I honestly believe that Copywrite and Intellectual property laws are getting totally out of control. My brother -who works at FusionIII- told me that certain advocacy groups are trying to push a law that can allow artists or labels to turn Musical Notes and Riffs (or samples, if you will) into intellectual property. I think it's fucking ridiculous. |

 Coolness: 37115 | art should not be labeled a product,but with americana,pretty much anything tangible is owned by someone,therefore leaving artistic creation to the producers and marketing crews,hollowing the very soul of art by choosing what can and can't be done, slowly making us forget the actual purpose of creating from the heart and mind.Greed is the tool of the Americas,it can easily make you forget what was meant in the first place.It's sad when you hear people fighting for who owns what,while wholehearted creation and pleasure of showing it to others,sit in the backseat(tied up with gagballs in their mouths).We really are missing the whole point with our copyrights, patents and whatnot. |

That makes absolutely no sence. The art itself isn't a product (unless we're talking generic pop music) Granted, prices on things are way too fucking high, but still, things cost money to make. Sure you can make all your own music and be an artist, but to get your music out, you've got 2 choices (right now anyways): Freely available on the internet or Cd/vinyl releases Most people can't afford their own CD release, which is where the labels come in. And yes, prices are way inflated, but the things still cost money and time to physically produce the CDs. The art and the distribution are completely unrelated (unless your doing pop, in which case you aren't really an artist, just a tool doing what your told) |

Real CDs are still better than burned ones, I see burned disks fail all the the time on certain players. |

I also get student discounts on any audio stuff I buy... Ihad a discussion before with friends that people who use a bunch of pirated software to make their music don't deserve to make any money off it. |
