Was just released... I guess it works the same as firefox 1.03 since they use the same engine as that... It seems to work nicely... I just installed it and I don't notice any differences from firefox and netscape becides the name and theme...

The one nice thing about it is that you can choose if you would like to display a page with FIREFOX rendering or IE rendering... So if a page looks funny with a click of a button it will change rengering engines... Thats about all thats good about it...

well, that's an extension available for firefox for a long time:
[ addons.mozilla.org ] -- lots of goodies there!

Yes but that extension makes pages load in IE... With netscape 8 they will load in NS8 but with the IE rendering engine if you so choose... No other programs needed...

netscape is based on firefox engin? I kinda doubt it since the engin is open source. They woud have (because of GPL) to release netscape's source. Are you sure you are not confusing with Mozilla which will be updated to the firefox engin?

netscape (current version) is designed off of mozilla's with is designed off of netscape (old version).. hahaha the code's been passed around a bit.

and yes, they took Open Source and modified it. Red Hat does the same.

the thing is, linux is not distributed under the gpl, so you can modify it and resell it as you want, but not firefox's code. If you use it, your soft has to be open sourced too.

seems im wrong if netscape could do that.
