If apple ever released OS X on x86 platform, would you dump Windows and install it?

Nope. The main software I need a computer for isn't on OSX. If Fruityloops got ported to it, and it still used PC VSTs and DXi's and effects, then I might consider giving it a shot.

hehe, you're forgetting that a month after osx were to go x86, there would be buttloads of porting going on.

yeah but how would apple support all the different PC hardware cofigurations? Force everyone to use a certain motherboard/video card combination ?

actually i've heard that apple actually has a running version of OS X for x86 that they use for internal use only, in the even that IBM can't produce a PPC chip that keeps up with the industry. sort of a backup plan..

and no, it'd obviously work on all mobo's..

It would take a lot of work to get it to work with most laptops

Even if they moved to x86 chips, I'm sure apple would always have their OS tied to their own hardware, they can make a killing on hardware that way.

They can? They do! But keep in mind that a Mac will last you at the very least twice as long as any PC. And that because they release decent machines.
