heyehey,everyone
i just got an idea and im pretty interesting to know if someone would love to have this corporation,
i am right now in taiwan,as u may know,we got pretty funky fashion scene here,i wont say its as crazy as japanese but almost.
so the clothes are kinda cheap here,u might just spend 4 cnd to buy a super cute piece,so my idea is import some clothes from taiwan to montreal and then sale it on the net or make it as auction..something like that..
but again,it probably cost much just for shipping,if there is 100 piece coming.
in this moment,i have no money but a taste of fashion,so i wont go put my money on the table just like this...
this is one way.
another way is,as i know some seller in taiwan bid site, they copy or modify style from what they saw in japanese magazine, then ask a local factory to produce it. again,i dont know anybody in montreal who has a clothing factory, and this is going to be too big in this moment also.
so what do u think about this idea?
my idea is base on,bring cute clothes to montreal girls(or guys) and they dont need to pay big money for those piece...^_______^

not to be the devil's advocate but... there's this thing that when you import a product to sell, they charge you import taxes, so your price would probably have to be alot higher than you think.

As for making them hear, we are the 3rd biggest city (dont remember if it was in the world or in americas) for clothing and fabrics, so u shouldnt have trouble finding ppl to do it

well, i guess that you could yourself, with pictures, create a little website homemade for people here and we could also post the link elsewhere on forum and blog that we know. and we could order directly from you with western union or money order, and you could just fix the price for the delivery and a commission for you? and if that works really well, maybe you could change the idea for something else...
i dont know, just suggesting

Actually that last part isnt so true anymore, the "needle trade" industry is all headed towards asia because fabrics are cheaper there, and labor is cheaper there.
My mom's a designer and for a while she had a really rough time adjusting to this.

As for the shipping fee's either way were gonna have to pay for her sending a box full of clothes. As for the authorities following us around to make sure we arent selling the clothes.. now that I doubt.

I think you guys need a class in realism.

and about the textile industry, i was refering to a documentary i saw THIS WEEKEND, statnig that only LA and some other city were above mtl, despite the current stagnation.

as i also said, it might be 'in americas' and not 'the world'

As for the idea, there are already import/export companies for such clothing, and here they sell it high priced because they have no choice if they want to make any profit once the import custom taxe/shippign and all the costs have been paid. Its simply not feasable unless you bring back 10-20 pieces of clothing in your luggage and sell it to friends. (Which is a cool idea, but is not a good way to start a business)

I would set it up throughe-bay. Just make multiple accounts and sell shit off them. Make special packages of multiple items with volume discounts. Since the transactions are done on a person-to-person level, you can mark your boxes 'gift' and the recipient wont pay customs.

My lasalle college fashion chick frends ordered tons of trendy shit off ebay shipped to them from us, uk or taiwan/china.

My idea, once the products have been chosen, would be to find a store, like a small indipendant boutique that would be really interested in selling the clothes. That way the store owner pays the import fee's and whoever's responsible for finding the store and making sure the clothes get sent and such gets a cut, like an agent.

Yeah but even for small store, you better have a damn professional portfolio if you want them to endorse you. Like have samples, an import plan and prove your stuff is of decent quality while remaining cheap.

And like you said, you said Katie, the store will want a cut of profits...so you're still gonna sell your stuff average price. I guess the only way to sell it for cheap is to do everything yourself which requires a lot of time and is almost always rather complicated. But hey, I know people who live for this type of challenging situation so it could be beneficial to a certain extent.
