Ironic that I did some spring cleaning 2 weeks ago and fell upon an oooold copy of a UK magazine called Muzik :
There are a few articles about DJ Pierre, Chicago in the 90s and it's influence on Great Britain. I reread it and got goosebumps.
Took out my old acidhouse and acid techno tracks and populated my MP3 player with them. But man do I miss a screaming 303 ripping speakers apart.
As explained in the linked discussion, do you not think it would be awesome to do an all acid party sometime this summer ? Who's with me on this ?
And who has some stories to share regarding acid ? The first time you heard it, stuff that happened when you went to an acid party, etc.
Discuss please, the nostalgia is killing me. :) |

| hmm... you know, from my knowledge and experience, I'd always attributed the acid house sound to Great Britain more then to Chicago... I dunno, I think it's an interesting debate... either way, it's obvious that the style and sound was way ahead of the game and has noticeably influenced several genres in their evolutions...

| Interesting ufot. Me (like you, from my knowledge and experience too) its the opposite, acid house always brings -Chicago- to my mind, born in Chitown in the 80's. Then the sound has be recycled into acid, acid techno, hard acid, you name it, by London (well, UK) early 90's... Interesting. |

| Well, if we follow the timeline as I knew it and how it's described in the articles, it DID originate in Chicago, somehow a few mixtapes found its way to merry old England and it got picked up by a very select number of clubgoers. In fact, it played at one bar at first, then ut spread like wildfire until the culminatio of acidhouse in 1988 dubbed the " Summer of Love " where acidhouse parties exploded in the U.K.
But Ufot, the reason we think more of England is purely based on the lack of interest by clubbers in Chicago for acid house. Never was big over there. |

| Ouais, je le sais pas qu'est ce qui arrive avec ça. Faudrait parler à Schtroumpf mais j'ai ben beau l'inviter à venir dans ce forum, il ne vient pas. Je catche pas. Je vais le re-PMer coudonc.
Mais coudonc, il y a plein de monde qui veulent entendre du acid, c'est weird. Ben pas pour moi, j'ai jamais arrêter mais je pensais sérieusement que les gens avaient tourné la page là-dessus. C'est le fun de savoir que je ne suis pas tout seul. |
