HAZARD (TRUE PLAYAZ, RADIUS, UK)
Those outside of Birmingham may not have heard of DJ Hazard, but for those that haven't, it's a question of when they hear his name, not if. The new addition to the True Playaz family, and the first to stand alongside the mighty Hype, Zinc and Pascal on a more permanent basis is, for his 25 years, remarkably undaunted by the task of keeping up with the label's founding fathers. Coming from a ragga and hip-hop background, Hazard found he was drawn to drum and bass by the heavy drums and pounding basslines of the sound of jungle and to this date, that's reflected in his music, with a heavy emphasis on the drum sound of each track. Hype and the Playaz wasted no time in bringing him into the fold. Frequent live outings at Birmingham's Que Club, H2O and CO:DE and a handful of European dates has set Hazard in good stead for moving up to the next level, as from February 2003, he is a regular on the bill at the True Playaz monthly sessions at Fabric in London.

DEVIZE(3D MODE, RADIUS, 31 RECS, UK)
Devize found his way into the dance music world playing hip-hop and then, drawing inspiration from Carl Cox's early mixtapes, began playing out at local raves before he was barely old enough to buy White Lightning. It was through his work with Kool FM Midlands and a 3D Mode show, that he received a CD of tracks from a local producer 3rd Alternative aka ThreeA. Also keen to work outside the confines of their own label Devize and ThreeA have been busy getting involved with other imprints. Last year they had a release, 'Ballast', on Urban Takeover. "We've just done one, due out on Total Science's label Fix Records," says Devize. "We've also got something due out on 31 Records later this year and we did some remixes for Hazard for his Radius imprint." (Taken from [ www.knowledgemag.co.uk ]
