ghetto airlines

theres a bunch

ryan air
jetsgo
etc

theres some page that lists them all.

anyways, my friend who lives in the UK uses the various airlines to get around and swears by it.

when i was in greece i just took boats from island to island, i know you can get them from italy to greece too ... then just more boats to whatever island you want to go to.

are you only going to crete? personally, id recommend taking some extra time for greece and seeing some of the other islands ... boats up to the cyclades islands dont take long and well worth it ...

santorini for example, black sand beaches, etc.
ios if you want to party it up, i worked a few summers ago in a night club called mojo there, nice open ceiling, good proggy dj's. q club on the island is also wicked, dj spun micheal jackson for us every night.
mykanos is another good party island close by, kinda a gay friendly island too.
paros is simply breathtaking.

i could go on here ... point is, i love greece and want to live vicariously through everyone going there ... tho this summer is the olympics so i bet all the islands will be crammed more.

im going back next year and cant wait.

oh yea, and just to get an idea about how much boats were .. again, this was back in 2002 ...

anywhere from 5 euros to i think 20 was the mosts i paid, that was from ios back to the port near athens ... v. cheap.

yea and the roads are fucked up.

i remember taking a big greyhound sized bus down to the main port on santorini. the road is continous s shape turns up a big mountain ... i thought the bus was going to fall off the cliff the whole way, i was almost crying. not fun.

i also saw two people get smoked on scooters by busses. not fun either.

if youre only going to italy, im pretty sure you can do the trip by boat. it takes a while, but if youre going in off season you can access pretty much the whole ferry with the lowest class. in high season if you buy deck, youre on the deck.

bring a sleeping bag!! stupidest thing i did was NOT bring one. if your boating it gets fucking COLD overnight on the deck.

also, if you plan on renting scooters, get the lowest level of M liscense. i dunno what its like in spain/italy/present day really (heh), but i couldnt get insurance with our rentals cause we didnt have an M.

aww now i wanna go too.

Ummmm that's only in UK not in the rest of Europe so don't listen to Jackie.. she deosn't know what she's talking about.

But to come back to the topic, buses would be the best way, cost me 80 euros from bosnia to germany.. a 20 hour ride.. it's pretty cheap compared to a plane/train ticket or the gas that you would have to pay for the same trip.

but like i was telling you the other day, Euro Bus pass. it costs about 800$ but you can use it as many times as you want in the time frame you give them.
