One word:
Cap-St-Jacques

In the West Island, you just take the 68 until the terminus! (it stops at Cap-St-Jacques park, you walk a little and there's a beach. You can rent kayaks and canoes, it's fun :))

no really- are there seriously no decent beaches near the city? i wanted to go to one too and it seems as though it's either that big public fucker on ile st. helene or teeny tiny private lake ones up north or in the eastern townships.

Well think about it, we live on an island thats surrounded by really nasty water, that you couldnt pay people to swim in. Where are we supposed to have a beach? Jeez, I really dont mind the one at ile.st.helene, I dont think i'd ever go in the water but its pretty to lounge around and tan or pic nic. Cap st. jaques is pretty nice as well.
STOP WHINNING.

there are no beaches around here. it bites the big one. and i don't consider a bit of coarse, rocky sand surrounding a lake to be a beach.

but i say hit up Riviere Rouge, you can play in the rapids
