I've been racking my brain for a week trying to figure this out.

There's a peripheral available that acts as a sort of dock or caddy, and you can drop a hard drive into it and plug it into another computer via USB.

Anyone have any idea what it's called? I've searched for dock and caddy and dozens of combinations of terms, but I can't find it.

future shop and compusmart don't seem to carry them, at least not in their online catalog.

they're pretty cheap on ebay, at least a lot less than i thought they would be.

Hey, thanks for the tip. I picked one up this morning. I got a USB 2.0 enclosure that holds both 3.5" and 5.25" drives which is pretty sweet cause I'll be able to access files on my old hard drive through my laptop and I'll be able to hook up my DVD burner to my laptop :D

Definetly worth it for $55. They also have a firewire version.

$63 something after tax. you can get it firewire or USB 2.0

it supports 3.5" drives and 5.25" drives, which is pretty cool.

Mega PC is a really good store, I bought a couple of parts for my current PC there and they have good prices and don't have the stock problems places like Microbytes have.

I remember I wanted crucial ram and one store near my house said nobody stocked that and seemed offended that I ever asked for non-generic memory.. MegaPC, had it and no problems...
