| Coolness: 36925 | the "exotic other"...sounds like that's right out of postcolonialism 101 lol The WOW flyers have been pretty consistent with the kitschy theme, and Liz Taylor dressed up as Cleopatra is right on that motif. The image, if anything, is ironic. Portraying an image of Ganesh if one of the DJs had an Indian name might deserve your condemnation, but Ancient Egypt is so dissimilar from today's Egypt, I think it is going a little far to say that the flyer is guilty of exploiting The Far East for ethnocentric interests. |
