thought so
that's why i never got around to hearing it

if Jakki Da Motormouth knew how to write songs, a opposed to just writting battles rhymes and freestyling, he'd be the hottest on the Def Jux camp

for serious tho... elp's production being super good and all but

anyone else disapointed with most the artists releases in general on def jux?

i picked up the release (coflow/canox)... that shit was boring

then bought first Aesop 12" and thought that was cool, perhaps cause of the beats. then i realised i didnt feel Aesop a few months after having the Labor Days cd

then everythign just got more and more disapointing

old news some murs lyrics

still dont know what to feel about em yet

""you can be down, but lets grow up
you aint the same color when police show up
my cultures not a trend, be it black is not in
but for you its just a phase, youre gonna have to trancend"

"yo i do the same music, they stop comin to shows
its like they scared of the white boys in the front row
at first i was like "so", you aint gettin my dough
the numbers kept fallin as my fanbase would grow
but now im concerned so i gotta speak up
first the money was the only thing shuttin me up
but now i dont care, dont support me, get mad
why wouldnt you abort me, my own people have
i feel i should have the scans white rappers have
its sad, but the way it is
whats the reason that my album doesnt sell like his
dont front like you dont know why the hell that is
its because hes white, you can relate to his face
through he years youve been taught that black is unsafe
plus its only natural for your own to be embraced
concious of subconcious you cannot say that is the case
the only reason it took so long to take place
was because up until now your only choice was 3rd Bass
but others like Ice wasnt really that tight
now you got some white dudes who can truely rock the mic
you relate to that story cuz you relate to that past
question is: why would you listen to mur's black ass?"

"yes it is jazz, yes it is blues, yes it is the same way they did rock
but i refuse to see the same thing happen to hiphop
i refuse to watch that bullshit"

now... NOT that i agree with murs' message

i respect him for being upfront about what in a song. im sure alot of rappers are thinking the same.

only other artist i could think of that'd say something like that is Chris Rock.

the murs n slug album was what got me into Slug a little, cause god loves ugly doesn't do it, though admitadly i haven't given it it's full laps yet, but then the same goes for the murs n slug album, i listened to it very briskly

what i like about Murs is his creativity, he's quite original, but his flow at most times isn't something i'm too fond of, i don't find him to be untallented, i think he's something that i'll look at next year and be like, yeah, he IS nice

as for Def Jux in general, Cannibal Ox is favorite, it took me a long time to actually start enjoying them, i had to sleep long and hard on them, Aesop i still haven't decided to take from under the pillow, because every time i have so far, i've just slipped him back, though it has been at times where my focus wasn't all there and it is pretty much the same for El-P, i still haven't heard a track, let maybe on or two, that i've been whelmed by his vocals...

RJD2...well, he's definetly more along the lines of what is pretty much a garunteed favorite for me, and that where he is...

but i what i say holds little dirt, i haven't heard enough from the label
