i don't think that anyone can really be ADDICTED to pot... any dependancy is in the mind - it's not physical... it's not like hard drugs where the body develops a need and without it ceases to function properly.
for example, even though i've probably smoked about a joint a day for the last 3 years i would n't call it addiction cause i feel like smoking, i don't need to. so if you really wanted to stop than you could, without resorting to any substitutes |

I think some people are actually addicted to the tobacco they put in joints.. the nicotine...
I don't if it's done that way in the rest of canada but most people in montreal put a decent clip of tobacco in a joint... If you smoke 10 times a day, all with clips of tobacco, it's like smoking a few cigarettes a day on top of the maryjane. Try smoking them pure and see how it goes... |

the only problem i find with smoking pure joints is
1- it's really fucking harsh and makes me burst out in 5 minute-long coughing spasms (depending on the bud, of course) 2- it's not as economical (you use more pot and it burns faster) |

Thing is that pot opens the respiratory conducts ; it is quite good for the lungs when smoked occasionnally and pure, while tobacco does the opposite effect to the lungs, so blended together, it takes the tobacco characteristics and kills the pure weed's good effects on lungs ...
But look who's talking ? I wonder who puts some little tobacco in joints all the time , and is quite addicted to it unconsciously ? Me, damn me ! |

concerning the original question: i have
i smoked 3.5 - 7 grams a day on average for about 10 years...and then slowed down, and then quit. I take a puff or two now and then, when the time is right(the blend, freak and see), but i don't NEED it to make it through my day... |

i smoked chronic-ally for about 8 years then one day just was like fuck it, curled up in my bed and didn't go out for a few days. couldn't sleep for shit. then i spent about a month without smoking a joint, got SO fucking insane due to the change in my brain and metabolism that I actually started DOING things. In that one month i started doing nights, started a record label, got a new job, got a promotion in the job I already had, and basically accomplished more than I ever thought possible. Then I smoked a joint about a month later and got WAY more stoned than I ever had, I'll never forget, I was at Aria hallucinating the fuck out of the shit, seeing bubbles coming out of the walls, and so high that I had to sit down against the wall for like, 3 hours. That day I learned what a bad trip being stoned can be and ever since then I've smoked way way less, but ya it's still hard to stop entirely it just smells SO good. right now it's 4:36 AM and i have to work tomorrow and FUCK at times like this I always jones for a joint.. the fact is if i smoked one though, not only would I not get to sleep right away (cause I'd lie there stoned in my bed listening to music for like, 2 hours).. but I would probably get al lparanoid and think I was having a heart attack, AND i wouldn't be able to get out of bed tomorrow morning. so ya, it's possible to stop. weed is bad. it's a powerful drug, you realize only AFTER you stop smoking it constantly. |

Steve, I know EXACTLY what you mean. I did the same thing about 5 years ago. It's like when you stop smoking weed, this massive could is lifted from your head and you can finally see straight. Getting out of bed is so much easier in the morning. I can't even take a single toke anymore or else I get super paranoid for about 4 hours and I just need to be in a dark room alone and freak out til my heart stops pounding in my chest. It's such a bad trip. I also lost about 20 pounds cause I wasn't coming home every night and indulding my munchies by devouring 3 bowls of honey nut Cheerios before going to bed. Quitting weed was no doubt the best thing I ever did for myself. |
