FUNDS LOST; DRUG CHIEF REASSIGNED
BOGOTA, Colombia -(AP)- Gen. Gustavo Socha, chief of the nation's
anti-narcotics police, was reassigned Friday after about $2 million in U.S.
drug war aid allegedly vanished into the pockets of some of his officers.
The U.S. Embassy said Thursday it had suspended some aid after discovering
that a "significant amount of money" was missing. An embassy official said
police are believed to have taken money "for personal ends."
