MAN DIES AFTER FIGHT WITH SHEPHERDSVILLE POLICE

An Illinois man who put up a fight during his arrest on a drug charge later
collapsed and died, Shepherdsville police said. Police said it remained
uncertain whether Rodney Kyle Gray, 21, of Decatur, Ill., died as the
result of police force.

Gray didn't appear to suffer any serious injuries in the brawl with
Shepherdsville police officers Tuesday night, Chief Ron Morris said.

Police say Gray assaulted Officer John Bradley when Bradley tried to arrest
Gray on a drug-possession charge at a gas station.

Gray later was combative with Bullitt County jail workers and collapsed
before he was booked, said Chief Deputy Jailer Martha Knox.

Efforts to revive Gray in the jail were unsuccessful, Morris said. Gray was
taken to Norton Audubon Hospital in Louisville, where he was pronounced dead.
