MARIJUANA ACTIVIST FACES INCOME TAX CHARGES

Halifax

The founder of the Nova Scotia Marijuana Party, who is now serving a
six-year prison sentence for conspiring to possess and traffic in
marijuana, is being hounded by the taxman.

Michael Patriquen, 49, of Middle Sackville is charged with evading a total
of $41,370 in 1998 and 1999 taxes.

The father of two has been in prison since September 2002. He has been
fighting to use his legally prescribed marijuana in prison for neck and
back pain sustained in a 1999 car accident.
