REGULAR DOCTORS, PAIN MEDS DO JUST FINE

Dr. Eric D. Schneider's plea for "grandma's pot" to remain readily
available in his letter to the Gazette on April 25 doesn't hold a lot
of water. You see, I am a little (5'4"), old (suffice it to say
retired for 5-plus years) lady, and do have my aches and pains. When
they kick up a fuss, I go to my doctor (a genuine M.D.) and he
prescribes pain medication for my particular "complaints" -- sometimes
merely pesky and other times not tolerable -- and I go to my pharmacist
who then fills the doctor's prescription to ease my miseries. There's
never been the need to send my grandchildren into the streets to seek
out the Mexican drug gangs!

The Gazette keeps reminding us that 62 percent of Montanans voted to
legalize medical use of marijuana. I have lived 65 years in Montana
and know lots of folks in most corners of our state. I've yet to talk
to anyone who admits voting for this federally illegal substance to
become legal in our usually awesome state! Oh, and Schneider neglects
to say what kind of a doctor (or "caregiver"?) he is, which I found
curious. Gov. Schweitzer would be well-advised to hang his "Veto"
brand back in his barn.
