I totally disagree with the Miami, Florida, school district's random drug
testing policy, as reported in the Feb. 15 Chronicle.

It is the parents' responsibility to find out whether or not their child is
doing drugs. The school should only get involved if the student is
disrupting class or destroying school property.

It seems the school district has surrendered its discipline policy in favor
of drug testing. It should be illegal for schools to test students for
drugs. After all, it is illegal to randomly test drivers for alcohol.
