DRUGS, WE DON'T LEARN
United States drug czar Barry H.McCaffrey should have reviewed the
crime rates in the Netherlands versus the United States before
criticizing the Netherlands'drug tolerance program,which is also
followed by other countries in Europe["McCaffrey tries to ease Dutch
anger on visit,"World and Nation,July 15].
We learned nothing From Prohibition.Until you take the profit out of
drugs you will find the"pushers" at your elementary schools getting
the kids hooked on drugs and stealing to support their habit.Tolerance
is acceptable and is working; legalization is not the answer. We are a
very backward nation in many ways and never seem to learn.
