TEEN TESTIFIES IN SLAYING

A teenager said he agreed to help Junior Johnson and another man rob a
friend's apartment, but it wasn't until after the robbery that he
learned a 16-year-old girl had been shot to death.

OFFERED $20

The 15-year-old boy, who was 12 at the time of the robbery, told court
on Friday that he was approached by Johnson and offered $20 to get
someone at Tracy Christie's 12th-floor apartment to open the door so
they could burst in and steal marijuana, money and jewelry.

The witness, who cannot be identified, said he knew Tracy's daughter,
Christie Christie, and had bought drugs from Tracy Christie before.

He said one of his young friends, along with Johnson, 19, and Khalil
Francis, 19, went to the Glamorgan Ave. apartment building on Jan.
29,1996.

He knocked on the door and Christie Christie answered, the youth told
a jury Friday.

He said one of Christie's girlfriends was sitting in the kitchen with
Christie's little brother. Johnson then came in wearing a red bandana
over his face and levelled a sawed-off shotgun at Christie, he said.

"I turned around and ran through the living room and back out the
front door," the witness said. "I just wanted to get out of there."

He said on his way out he passed Francis, who was wearing a ski mask,
entering the apartment.

The youth said as he and his friend were waiting for the elevators
they heard a voice yell: "Run. Get out."

WORDS UNCLEAR

When they all got out of the building, Johnson said either, "I blew
somebody's head off" or "I blew her away for some weed and $10," he
said.

Johnson has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder.

The trial continues before a jury and Mr. Justice Harry Keenan of
Ontario Court, general division.
