COUNTY-BY-COUNTY MARIJUANA ARREST STATISTICS

County-by-county marijuana arrests in New York.

Counties are ranked according to their arrest rates for 1997, the
latest year for which this data was available.

The first number represents the raw number of marijuana arrests in
1997, the second number is the arrest rate that year per 100,000
population and the last number is the increase in arrests in that
county between 1995 and 1997:

1. Greene County, 423 arrests; 895.5 arrests per 100,000 population;
up 20.19 percent between 1995-97.

2. Manhattan, 9,885; 646.7; up 59.0 percent.

3. Bronx, 7,478; 633.1; up 53.4 percent.

4. Queens, 12,441; 632.6; up 55.5 percent.

5. Staten Island, 2,520; 632.5; up 55.5 percent.

6. Brooklyn, 14,203; 632.4; up 55.5 percent.
