I know it's been a sad state of affairs for the last 5 years or so. Like look at the bill at warped tour since 1999... it's been shit since then and I think that reflects the state of the genre.
And with all due respect to Rancid and Bad Religion , they had have some tendecies that cou;d be viewed as "sell-out" (transplants+shampoo=?!) and I saw a show a few years back at Jarry park, that had Bad Religion open for Blink 182. As well as a change in tone to their music. As much as I respect them and bands in similar positions (Gob for example) or worse (read that, Offspring est shit and die), I just listen to the old shit, that keeps me in my happy little world.
I dunno, the only band that has impressed me time after time, exceot for 'PumP up the Valium' was NOFX. They have not only evolved with good lyrics as well as style but they still give off that old feel that they gave for their classic albums.
The downfall of the music scene came in the mid 90's and that honestly made me explore new musical horizons and that led me to electronic music, a genre that can remain solid and evolve and not be shitty.

Anyway that's been my rant that I think have been harboring for too long.
