If you're talking UK freeform/trancecore, the main labels around right now are Bonkers, Nu Energy, Digital Beatz, Electronic, Blizzardtracks, CLSM, G-Core, Camel, Pitched Up, Finrg/Finrg Hard, Uprising, Rebirth, etc... There's also some UK hardcore labels which will release the odd trancecore/freeform tune, such as Raw Elements, Blatant Beasts, Hecttech, etc ... Most of these labels are distributed by Nu Energy [ www.nuenergy.co.uk ] Definitely worth looking out for Stompin Choonz(every record from ST021-032 or so is a classic). Other older labels to look for are Digital Beats, Bonkers, GBT, RSR, DATA and FBI/Feds.

Dutch trancecore's a lot harder to find... I don't know all that much about it except for the few releases i've tracked down on labels like Industrial Strength, Ruffneck, KNOR, Cenobite, and most of those seemed to be from 1995-97, if that helps.

good to see someone stepped up and grabbed the bull by the horns. Despite all the fuckin drama it's causing in the ottawa scene, the headliner of a party doesn't deserve to be jerked around.

the 640/440 thing was entirely my fault. My friend was going on about having to drive down the 640 and i guess i had that stuck in my head. In spite of that, the address was posted on the infoline, and like you say i may have lost people because of this fuckup, so if you want to bitch me out then go right ahead but i'll quickly admit when i'm wrong - and i was - so i apologize.

Very disappointed at the numbers we got. More disappointed that someone actually stole my CDJ so now in addition to losing money on a party I have to buy another CDJ (i still have one, but mixing on one may as well be mixing on none). If someone HAS seen my CDJ please let me know. I just want to get it back.

Musically, i think the party was off the hook. Yeah the main room ended up being a LOT harder than I expected, but the 2nd room balanced it out. To EVERYONE who played : Thanks :) Even though I lost a bit of cash I was still having an amazing night so I think that says something about the music.

Right - time to go wake up.

It's at level. The party tonight will be at level, yes.

People like to bitch about level, but if anyone can think of a club with a better soundsystem and lighting that has 3 rooms then i'd like to hear it. It really disappoints me that people will bitch about the party that I have spent SO much time, effort and (probably lost) money organizing. If anyone else can do a better job, i'd be happy to see them try and would be very happy if they succeed, cuz GRAVITY is gonna rock

Anyone who was at Invasion saw that the Level staff was extremely friendly.

But of course, in the end it's all about the music (or it should be, right?)...

Anyways i'm fuckin excited.

To get to level, take the metro to Henri Bourassa and take any bus that goes along Boul des Laurentides. Or, take the 15N -> 640 E -> Boul des Laurentides and Level is the first building on the right when you turn right off that exit.

As you all know, over one month ago we launched a contest to find new djs interested in spinning in our 3rd room at GRAVITY. The contest was specifically aimed at finding up-and-coming djs and giving them some exposure. We received over 30 demos from all over Canada and the United States, and made our choices based on technique and originality. We received many good demos that we had to cut ... it wasn't easy !

ZONE 3 - UP AND COMERS ROOM

Bowzer - Breakbeat hardcore/happy hardcore
Clown - Psytrance
DK - Trance
Dodeca - Downtempo ambient - LIVE!!
DJ Evolve - Hard trance
Fucktop - Hard trance/acid
DJ Furi0us - Acid techno
The Middle Man - Hardcore/Gabber
Now One - Jungle/Happy Hardcore
DJ Omni - Trance
DJ Präe - Progressive/Trance
Tamerax - Hard trance

Each set will be one hour long and the timeslots will be drawn later this week, mostly at random. The timeslots for the other two rooms will be announced by the end of this week!!

Gravity. Omnipresent, impossible to resist. It draws us, a weight on our souls which we succumb to without any thought. Following the success of INVASION on January 31, SIMIAN Corp is proud to announce GRAVITY, AUGUST 1ST 2003. An event of galactic proportions, GRAVITY brings the best international, national and local talent to offer a devastating lineup to those who like it hard, and an equally massive lineup to those who like the BPM's a bit lower.

The lineup that you will find below is not yet complete, and we will likely add more DJs to this list. Within one week, the final lineup will be posted, complete with bios for all of the DJs and acts on the lineup.

Ticket information will be announced shortly. All inquiries should be sent to dan@dj-tyrant.com ...

ROOM 1: GRAVITY UNIT

SHARKEY (UK) - REACT Records, Bonkerz, Nu Energy Recordings - Freeform/Happy Hardcore

Fresh off his 10th CD release on REACT's infamous Bonkers series, SHARKEY is set to touch down in Montreal for the very first time. Without a doubt one of the most popular Happy Hardcore and Freeform DJs in the world, Sharkey is responsible for some of the most influential and succesful UK Hardcore tracks of all-time. He has continued to push his own unique sound, devastating dancefloors across the world. Montreal will be begging for more when Sharkey unleashes his mayhem on our city.

MARC SMITH (UK) - Notorious Vinyl, Bonkerz, Nu Energy Recordings - Freeform/Hardcore

This Scottish madman has hammered dancefloors in the UK and Australia and SIMIAN is proud to be offering MARC SMITH for his FIRST NORTH AMERICAN APPEARANCE! A self-described 'musical hooligan', Marc Smith will be serving up his unique style which brings together the hardest, chunkiest freeform and Dutch hardcore. Him and Sharkey both were responsible for the 2002 anthem 'Identify the Beat', and his more recent productions are equally impressive. No one knows what might happen when he gets his hands on a pair of 1200's... Not to be missed!

LOU CYPHER PROJECT (Ottawa) - Synthetix, Nu Energy Recordings - Hard Trance

This demonic hard trance audiovisual assault has proven itself as one of the world's BEST live acts. The ill-conceived collaboration between DJ S4 and AGENT 1475, LOU CYPHER PROJECT is making huge waves in Canada and abroad with their unique style of dark trance. Combined with a truly twisted video show synchronised to the audio, Lou Cypher is a force to be reckoned with.

GENMA (Seattle) vs. TYRANT - [ reactiondjs.com ] // SIMIAN, [ dj-tyrant.com ] - Hard Trance/Freeform

MAD - [ madstation.net ] - Hard Trance

CHAM VS. JUNIAH - [ trance-nrg.net ] - Hard Trance

DAYWALKER (New Jersey) - Pitched Up Recordings - Freeform

ROOM 2: ANTIGRAVITY

SPEAKER PHREAKER (Ottawa) - Eclipse - Booty House

It's rare that Montreal gets to hear Booty House, so SIMIAN decided that maybe it's time for something different! Enter SPEAKER PHREAKER. This Master of Booty has rocked dancefloors across Canada, so get ready to hear the heaviest, filthiest, and funkiest beats around when he gets on the decks.

ENDO (Vermont) - Sonic AM, [ btownsound.com ] - Breaks

Endo has been ripping it up for Dancefloors everywhere he goes with his aggressive style of Nu Skool Breaks. He also hosts one of the only all breaks radio shows in the Northeast US. His new CD, Graveyard Shift, featured on [ www.btownsound.com ] is said to be one of the darkest breaks mixes of the year. Lots of people play breaks, but Endo's hypnotic style of breaks will rock the house, guaranteed!

IZNOGOOD - Diskphunctional -Trance

B. WEISER vs. LADY MELODIE - Sweet Leaf Productions - Progressive House

aONE - Out of Boundz - Drum n Bass

TOLTECH - Level 4 - Techno

KONKRETIZER - [ konkretizer.com ] - Breaks

minus the effects, that cd player offers more than the pioneer cdj-100s.

looping, sampling, memory.... ur getting a good deal.

sure, it's not the standard cd player, but u'll be fine with those. it's not like with turntables where it's tech-12s or nothing.

I have a pioneer cdj-100 and an american audio (aka american dj) PSX cd player and i can honestly say that the american dj one handles almost as well as the pioneer. i've used a few different models of american dj cd players and they all seem to be good. Even if they're bottom of the line, i'd say you're getting a great deal.

What model are they?

Ruffage will be playing some hhc as well.

We thought about putting it earlier, but happy stuff works well in the morning, and the musical progression in the main room (such as we have it now) is hard trance -> freeform -> happier freeform/trancecore -> happy hardcore. It just makes more sense, i think.

Thanks for all the great feedback. Believe me, no one is anticipating this party more than I am, especially with this news update :) :

Just when you thought that we couldn't cram any more nt into this lineup, we're happy to announce an addition:

AC SLATER(Philadelphia, Pitched Up Recordings - [ www.pitchedup.net ] Electronic Recordings - [ www.electronicaexposed ] vs. DAYWALKER(New Jersey) (Pitched Up Recordings - [ www.pitchedup.net ] : AC Slater has been making huge waves in the North American happy hardcore and freeform scene with the launch of his label, and has since been working with talent like DJ Storm, DOK, Nujack and Shanty. His track 'Rave Music' can be found as the opening track in Tilzs' recent live mix from Hardcore Revival in Atlanta. He has played all over North America, including Hullaballoo and WEMF.

Daywalker has been producing for Pitched Up Recordings alongside AC Slater and his recent work is great. These guys will drop a load of massive freeform and happyish hardcore!

With less than one week to go till the big night, it's a last minute surprise, but one that won't disappoint!
