Chelsea; I don't think being patriotic is wrong.....I'm proud of my roots myself and I really like finding out about other's roots also........it's just that there's a limit to it, nationalism can create seperations and hatred.

Holy shit! "born white, like Jesus!" that was awesome!

About Israel, I totaly agree. The problem with these people (including Rudebwoi there) is that they get lost in all these clauses and technicalities, when all that really matters is to live in PEACE.

They also hold crudges and want revenge and payback for what the other party has done to them. But this revenge thing is a vicious cycle that only leads to more violence.....and to NO end of tensions. (which I have learned from personal experience)

Now for a simple solution to stop these two clans from killing each other?.....that is the question which sadly still remains unanswered.:(

P.S.: How could anyone say that I sound like I'm a follower of Bush's beliefs?;)

You know what I like about Canada day?.....at least in Montreal?(maybe that's because we're in between Qc City and Ottawa) It's that it doesn't feel THAT nationalist. Most people I know just take it as "another day off". Some people even take advantage of this day to move. I mean, the Canadian pride here is more about not giving a rat's ass about a flag and saluting it like a non-questioning droid

For a person like me, who doesn't feel any attachment to a nation more than another (I know I make all those Mexican jokes and some of you might think that it's because I care but I really don't).

I was born in Mexico and even if I had exposure to the latin-american culture during all my life (my parents aren't both from Mexico, by the way), I've been in Canada since I'm 3 years old and learned french and english pretty much at the same time (only about a year apart...french first.....and I did go to french school.....being an immigrant and all). I never felt that I'm from Mexico more than from here because I've been here virtualy all my life.

I'm a Montrealer and that's what I tell anyone who asks when I'm abroad. But most of all, I'm a citizen of the world.(that was really hippie-like but it's true)

If you look at the image portrayed of the "average Americans" for example, it's litteraly a melting pot where everyone is an American and they all abide to the ruling culture.....but in Canada, we generaly celebrate people's differences and (for the most part...nothing's perfect) it's respected.

Now that's what being Canadian means to me....i.e.;not giving THAT MUCH OF a fuck about where you're from but more about who you are and where you're going.

It's as if being Canadian is so good that there's no point of proving it.....and also, since Canada is a relatively young country, there's no such thing as being an "all pure Canadian". (unlike the belief of some countries in Europe)

You know what I mean?.....maybe it's just ramble to all of you but Canada feels like it's just a place where you can just be yourself and where people just let you be (or maybe that's just Montreal......I did hear stories about Ottawa and Quebec City).

The moral of the story here is that, IMO, being proud of where you're from is cool but there is a limit to it and that's what living in Canada (or at least Montreal) is all about.

THE END.
