A musical ambassador since infancy, a professional DJ since his early teens, a veteran of acid house and a champion of techno, Carl Cox puts out a love of his work that is infectious. When he's in the DJ booth and you can't mistake his ecstatic energy, dripping with sweat as his head bobs up and down to the beat, his hands pumping the air whenever they're not manipulating the decks, his body swaying back and forth, frequently taking to the mic to share word on the latest underground tune he's about to smash. You name it, Carl's been there and done it, but he's never lost sight of the point of it: playing music for the people by breaking tunes, spreading love, while celebrating his life.

In 1977, aged 15, Carl got a set of turntables and began working as a mobile DJ. Disco was the first music that captivated him but by the early 80s Cox had moved on to playing the same music as other young London DJs - rare groove, New York hip-hop and electro. He was perfectly placed to hear Chicago house music in its earliest forms, and epic 'Acid Trax' records that shaped his early DJ sound.

The next step was to make music, and Cox retreated into the club world that had nurtured him and embraced the underground sounds of techno. "Techno drives home somewhere," he says of his core music. "It takes you to an element of surprise, not knowing where you're going. It's scary but wonderful at the same time." After forming Intec Records in 1999, the label went on to score a series of underground techno hits and has well over50 releases to date. Over the years he has had several hits and full length albums displaying his broad range of electronic music styles and interests.

In 2011, Carl returned with his unique techno inspired sound to Ibiza’s Space for the tenth year in a row! Check out his amazing opening set from Space:

In 2006 Carl's Space night won ‘Best Ibiza Club Night’ at the Ibiza DJ awards. When not in Ibiza Carl headlines venues and festivals across the USA, South America, Europe, Far East, as well as his current reside Australia. In addition to touring to play for his millions of fans, Carl’s ‘Global’ radio show has now reached well over 4 million listeners and is broadcast over 25 countries worldwide, making him one of the most important broadcasters of electronic music on the planet.

The Big Boss was very disappointed that he was unable to attend his birthday party with Luciano and Ricardo Villalobos due to all flights in NYC being grounded because of a massive snowstorm that hit the east coast. He drove all night from NYC trying to make it to play for his fans and European brothers and sadly was unable to see the magic he put his money & reputation behind. Gardiner expressway West to 427 north, to 401 east or DVP to 401 west. Exit at Keele North to Sheppard Avenue and turn right. west onto Sheppard Avenue and proceed to John Drury Drive (the entrance to the park) and turn left into Downsveiw park. At the three-way stop turn left onto Carl Hall Road. Entrance to Studio #3 will be visible,enjoy the free parking in front the Downsview Park market. Please do not drink and drive.
15-20 minutes travel time.

Mid-town:
Keele or Allen Road North (use Lawrence exit) to Sheppard Avenue turn west onto Sheppard Avenue and proceed to John Drury Drive (the entrance to the park) and turn left into Downsveiw park. At the three-way stop turn left onto Carl Hall Road. Look for the bright light for entrance to Studio #3 and enjoy the free parking in front the Downsview Park market.
10-15 minutes travel time. Please do not drink and drive.

TTC
Fastest and most cost effective way. Travel north on the Spadina/University line to Downsview station. 15-20 minutes from bloor.

Downsview TTC bus to venue:
TTC #84 Sheppard west or #106 York University North bus. Both drop you 150 metres from the venue at John Drury drive .

TAXI
All major taxi companies will be alerted of the large scale event at Downsview to ensure cars for people going home. Taxi service from the entertainment district is around $30-35 taking Gardiner or Allen. Midtown $15 taking the Allen Expressway to Sheppard. They were running all night on Halloween and no one had a problem getting to or from Downsview Park Studio #3.

Berlin electronic music composer Martin (Paul Kalkbrenner), known as DJ Ickarus, is touring with his manager and girlfriend Mathilde (Rita Lengyel) from club to club around the globe and is about to release their biggest album to date. However, all of his plans are thrown out of kilter after Ickarus is submitted to the emergency ward of a psychiatric clinic after a gig- A tragicomedy in Berlin of today.

Way back in 1988 Samuel bought his first mixer and a pair of regular turntables. That was his first step into the music business. Mixing everything from hiphop, house and techno he began to explore the phenomenon of mixing. In 1991 he formed a party organization with his friend Max Reich, and started to pull off parties around Gothenburg. During the same time Samuel also started spinning outside his bedroom. When Max got a proper studio in 1995, he felt it was time to take a step further, so he asked Max to teach him the basics about producing. A couple of months after that they formed Solid Beat, a techno label distributed by Neuton. As time went by Samuels skills became more and more polished, so he felt he was ready to move on by himself. Samuel needed to start something of his own. So, 1997 was the year when the first "Cycle" came out in the shops. Titled "Techno Soul Pt 1", it contained laidback grooves for cool out corners. In the first two years he only released three, but in late spring of 1999 he decided to really have a go on it. And thats when things really took off for Samuel. "In Your Box" became his breakthrough record. Being played by people like Derrick May, Jeff Mills, Umek among others, people out there really started to take notice of him. The following release, "Check Out This I Bring" made him even more shiny as a wider range of jockeys span his wax. The phone started to ring more and more frequently, asking for his services regarding spinning, remixing and releasing. He quickly became a known face at various clubs and events around the world. Before he put "Cycle" on a break in 2001 to form "SLS", eleven releases had seen the light of day. Now with "SLS" on hand he felt trying out other parts of the spectrum . "New Soil" became the first one, a double pack filled with warm, more melodic grooves. The first track,"Velvet", became a hit on the floors and were soon hailed as a classic. In the same period Samuel got invited to do a remix of "Visions Of You" by Blake Baxter & Trevor Rockcliffe. Already a classic record, he was more then pleased to put his own touch on it. Another big tune he remixed in that time was FunkDvoid´s "Diabla" on Soma. It became a well played mix by many. When "Merengue" came out soon after, it became one of his best sold records ever. Slam and Oliver Ho all contributed to the success as their mixes were more then appreciated. Another big favourite from Sls records was Andreas Saag´s "Jazz Lesson" record. It sounded like nothing else at the time and broke new ground in a serious way. Laurent Garnier and Rolando were, and still is, huge fans of the record. Between then and today Samuel has released numerous records and they have always found its place within the circuits. Its fair enough to say that he has made an impact on techno, and its also right to mention that whatever style he takes up hes doing it in his own way. Lately he has been experimenting with a deeper minimal sound. "Klap Klap" is the name for this platform. The first record, "Easy Walker", is already loved by a wide range of people. Further explorations will take place at the end of each cycle...
