| Coolness: 71655 | Damn, timing is everything. Big outdoor electronic festivals are often hard to back/equalize. From a club night view. ... We stressed, RedBong went on with not alot of people present. Set-up factor was immense enough for us to still confirm an early set for the hip hop electro quatuor. My partner filmed the set. They had a slick honest jam. We realized the bummer outcome of a small crowd reception for a international act. Night went on... DnB set-up. People showed up and brought what was missing earlier. A dancefloor. The french band saw that. We talked more with them. We'll be hunting to book them next year. [ www.myspace.com ] |

| Coolness: 71655 | Again! The yearly third edition ended up to be a blast like the two first ones where. Over 400 smilling, pumped up people, all looking glad to be there. The event even got briefly announced on a Radio-Canada channel, thursday nite. ... The main room decorated with a 40 by 30 foot screen visualized by VJs Faust & Sakara occupied the whole side back front of the pool! The stage was filled with fire juggling, oil spitting fire performers, while the dj/live P.A booth had a lineup of psy/prog thick uplifting beats. The room was well packed. As a DnB head, here's a small scope on the guys that performed in the BASEment; -Sickness: A 10 year hardcore techno veteran, spinning his 2nd official DnB set. -Snork: A underestimated MTL producer presented us a beautiful intelligent set. -Galak's: The veteran reunited the builing DnB dancefloor with anthems and bass! -Stalker & Subtone aka Fortress: Total hard heavy 2 hour mayhem set from the busy local/internationnal producers. Whoa. The represented the Bass in PsyBass... -Moebius & Mutante: One french, one montrealer, two hardcore djs that totally showed us that DnB and Hardcore fit very well together... Mutante body movement while performing was worth the ticket entry to its own... -MC Special S: Slick on the words, prefect on the timing, he kept us dancing and recognising, till past 3am. I'll remember these conceptual gigs for a long time... |
