| Informations: | For those of you who love the funk, this is just to let you know that the Souljazz Orchestra will be releasing its latest album, "Freedom No Go Die", this coming Thursday, September 14th, at the Babylon Nightclub (317 Bank St.) in Ottawa. For those that haven't heard it yet, this new CD focuses mainly on Nigerian-style afrobeat music, but also includes elements of latin, funk and jazz. It features brilliant performances by the Mighty Popo, on vocals and guitar, as well as soul singers Alanna Stuart and arielle Rivard. It's already getting airplay all over Canada on campus radio, and it's even hit number 1 on a few charts! Souljazz will be joined by their brothers and sisters from Jokko, a fellow ethno-beat collective blending dub/reggae influences with afro/m'balax/soul/funk grooves. We'll also have Ray's bro Mikey Murray, down from Toronto, on trumpet and flugelhorn, as well as the lovely Marielle on vocals and shekere. Oh, and as usual, resident DJ D-Mass will be holding it down on the wheels of steel. So it's looking like this is going to be one heck of a party! Please help us get the word around, tell all your friends... Doors open at 10PM, and we'll be starting sooner than usual, so COME EARLY! It's a 5$ cover, hope that doesn't break the bank.
