We are also pleased to have GRAHAM J [ www.xvi.com ] on the line-up for this month. This man has been rocking dance floors longer than most, and is an obvious talent behind the decks. His sets are few and far between these days, so come out and witness what this seamless and skilled master behind the decks is all about. All of this, along-side FUNKTION's resident DJ PLUSH, there's no way you could go wrong! | Extras: | Friday February 19th, 2010: FUNKTION - Vol. 8 @ LOTUS It’s 1/12th of the way through the year already and it feels like just moments ago we were cheering in a new year and a new decade. The month of February marks the second event in a two-part series that will focus on the two resident DJs who bring you Funktion every month. In the spotlight this month is our very own DISKO DAVE, who will be playing a special extended set of the best and freshest selections in house and tech house beats. ----- DISKO DAVE (House Werk, Fiesta, Funktion) Co-Founder of Funktion, DISKO DAVE is a consummate house music DJ that brings energy to the dance floor. He’s known for keeping the crowd moving and interested throughout his sets until the very last beat. Growing up and surrounded by musicians, he began searching for new sounds at the young age of 16 where he discovered electronic music. His influences at that time stemmed from the sounds of Daft Punk, The Chemical Brothers, Ritchie Hawtin, Carl Cox, Madam Zu, and Dave Clarke. It was from that point on, when he moved away for his studies to Windsor, where he was exposed to the Detroit scene and Chicago House music which influenced him to become the DJ he is today. After moving to Ottawa, DISKO DAVE began branding his style and soon became a strong Ottawa favourite. As a strong believer of underground dance music, he’s devoted to delivering the crowd an unforgettable experience. Having recently wrapped-up a 2-year residency every Wednesday night @ Lotus Lounge, DISKO DAVE is part of a joint annual event every Canada Day called "Fiesta" (Ottawa’s 12-hour outdoor house music party), and has recently teamed up with a new monthly venture called "House Werk". Having recently closed the doors on Ottawa’s nightlife network [ ] earlier this year, his 10 year+ dedication to the Ottawa scene’s online community through XVI alone will not go un-noticed. For his superior DJ talents, and his dedication to our scene, we are proud to have this talented techy-genius on board with us this month. ----- GRAHAM J [ www.xvi.com ] When Graham started spinning, gas cost 33 cents a litre, the first text message had just been sent, and the World Trade Center had just been attacked. The first time. Today gas is liquid gold, your grandmother sends text messages and airports treat you like YOU were the bomber, but Graham is still slamming dance floors. The world changes but one thing you can count on is Graham's ability to get your face smiling and your ass shaking!
