been touring the island for a little over a week now and it's been incredible. the great thing about this place is that you can hop into a car without knowing where you really want to go and get somewhere really cool. sofar since i left victoria on my super budget zero$ adventures... -nice folks in nanaimo who gave me an actual bed to sleep on. nice change from sleeping on cardboard boxes under a tarp in the woods -walk on the treacherous highways to tofino in complete darkness (in bear and cougar country... yeah i was really scared actually) and ending up sleeping in the handicap washroom of a infotourism center. they dont lock the doors for the handicap washroom *hint!* -dumpster diving in cambell river for soda and beer cans in order to earn my ferry fare to Cortez island... -cortez island is a nice hidden gem among all the great little islands off the coast of vancouver island. I tried building a raft out of driftwook with this bumkid, Travis, from victoria i slept most my nights next to a fire on Hank beach (where i grew really fond of the arbutus tree) and smelt bay where the sun sets "Police in helicopters" there's police constantly flying around in cortez trying to find marijuana crops -searching for magic mushrooms in cow dung fields in cowichan valley (outside of Duncan)... no luck since it's been dry but there has been rain today it feels nice to be a traveller again instead of living within the constraints of a hippie bus rainbow gathering in nitnat Lake in two days!
