Most viral infections nowadays make it their first priority to nuke the shit outta conventional antiviral software.

well its not a anti virus software, but get this
anyway a spybot from (its free)

[ www.safer-networking.org ]

ill just copy n paste from their site..

''Spybot - Search & Destroy can detect and remove spyware of different kinds from your computer. Spyware is a relatively new kind of threat that common anti-virus applications do not yet cover. If you see new toolbars in your Internet Explorer that you didn't intentionally install, if your browser crashes, or if you browser start page has changed without your knowing, you most probably have spyware. But even if you don't see anything, you may be infected, because more and more spyware is emerging that is silently tracking your surfing behaviour to create a marketing profile of you that will be sold to advertisement companies. Spybot-S&D is free, so there's no harm in trying to see if something snooped into your computer, too :)''

Step One: Look it up at [ www.norton.com ] and make sure the fucker didn't edit your registry.

Start -> Run -> regedit

Also, you might want to take a look at whats being loaded when you startup windows. In WinXP, do Start -> Run -> msconfig -> Click on the Startup tab.

Step Two: Disable system restore if you're running WinXP or WinME. This usefull tool is a bitch when it comes to virii

Step Three: Reboot your computer, after it checks your harddrives and stuff (POST), hit F8 a few times untill you get a menu

Step Three: Chose Safe Mode with no features (like Networking or Command Prompt)

Booting up in safe mode will release A LOT of memory and executables that might otherwise be in use, preventing them from being repaired/quarantined.

Run Norton Antivirus and clean out your system. Could take a while, but whatever, its worth it.

If there were any changes to the registy that the virus caused, make sure you check the registry again.

Afterwords, TURN OFF your computer, wait 20 seconds, then turn it back on.

Enjoy your virus free computer.
