First of all i am a exchange student and I arrived 2 month ago in Montreal. Today in the Metro i got busted by the STM for doing nothing. Me and my friends went after school to atwater. It was during the rush hour so the Metro was very full. Now the reason why they gave me a fine: When the train came my friends and me tried to get into the metro but it was very crowded so i was between the doors when the metro doors closed. I had one leg in the metro and in my hands a arizona drink and a chocolate bar. The metro closed my leg and all my friends were inside the metro but my body outside. Then 2 stm officers yelled at me from the side that i should stop holding the doors of the metro and started to detain me but i didnt do anything wrong. I asked them if they have the right to detain or if i am free to go but he told me that he has the power to arrest me. They took my adress and name but not the name and the adress and name of my legall guardian or of my parents. They said that i slowed down the metro and gave me a fine over 118$. I am 17 years old could I get a reduced fine? I asked them if I could see the video but they said thats not there business... They told me that i can go fight their decision in court but it will cost something if i loose. Is that true? By the way the officer who spoke with me couldnt speak very good english so i had problems to understand him ( I can speak english german and french but he need some practise in english xD). The other offcicer was just unfriendly and should learn how to write... What should i do now? Should i pay the fine? Should i go to court? Should i leave Canada without paying the fine? Please help me!!! Ty |
