Well, the new year is upon us ... so, what were your most memorable parties/raves/events ?

What were your favorite acts/shows/DJs ?

What were your modern day discoveries, your picks for best artists of 2011 ?

What were your partying highlights of this past year?

(don't have to answer ALL of those xD )

The events that had a impact on me this year were Kinetik-Fest, Heroes-Vs.-Villains, CTRL ATL DEL (seeing Unexist play was too wicked), and playing BassDrive last week ... good times! good music!

Honestly though, 2011 was a fairly shitty year; music is general was pretty static .. but I discovered some artists like Tymon, got some new records, threw a party, moved my radio show to Datagram, made some nice tracks, and got a decent amount of gigs, so I guess I can't complain too much! - as long as we leave personal/non-musical stuff out of the equation :p

... et vous?
I'm feeling you up right now..

Festivus '11 for a few hour stretch almost felt like we were at an IDJ; awesome room, great vibe and tons of good DnB! All that was missing was the floor-to-ceiling cloud of weed-smoke

Heroes Vs. Villains was insanely awesome too, mad amounts of fun tagging with Sickness!
I'm feeling like a drama magnet right now..

Heroes vs Villains!! I'm proud of what we achieved, and it felt good to be giving back to a scene that has been good to me over the years.

That being said, I spent most of my raving hours in Toronto this year. With crews like Daydream and Nocturnal Commissions, it is the place to be for Hardcore kids like me. My most memorable time on the dancefloor in 2011 was during Re-Con's and Technikore's sets at Total Request Rave 6 in november.

As a dj, my favourite performance was in Ottawa, just a few weeks ago, at Taste The Rainbow. It was a small but very good party and I'm really proud of my set. I'll follow this example here in Montreal in 2012 for Noah's birthday and Plurtastik's Level Up.

See you in 2012! =D
I'm feeling motivated right now..

I can't believe just about everybody missed Xanopticon... was great to be able to ride my bike to the show - the other two times I've seen him were at shows we both played in Detroit.

dubstep hasn't fucking existed since they took the dub out of the motherfucking step....

I'd apologize to those I've offended... but... really... if you're all hyped on the absolutely terrible shit that is currently being called dubstep - and missed out on the boat that left the port a few years ago... then no cunting apologies are necessary....

if you feel like telling me that I'm not down with underground... so be it...

I've listened to a LOT of dubstep since moving to Montreal, both old and new. Old dubstep is fine, but technically simple and not that interesting (although I do love really dark old dubstep). New dubstep, on the other hand, is incredibly varied - and yeah, most of the popular songs are teeny-pop with synths, but there's a lot of incredibly dark, heavy, and technically impressive dubstep out there that'll blow any other electronic music out of the water. To each his own, of course.

I mean... *really*... ANY electronic music??? for real?

You're gonna stack up a bunch of over-driven patch-frenzied bullshit against the rhythmic complexity of Autechre? You're gonna stack that unnamed stuff up against the Cubist Reggae ep, or the Speed Dealer Moms project? Don't talk about technically impressive when you're swimming in the shallow end of the pool... 'cause really... if you want to match technical complexity you better be pulling some A-level shit out of your fucking bag.... 'cause the SAT scores on just about everything I've heard aren't fit for me to wipe my friend's ass with.

Word.

Most dubstep I've heard use the same technique over and over. Sawtooth pitch enveloped drops.

How innovative and profound.

yo... take a good luck at my user pic... that's me... DRUNK... posing with a cardboard cut-out of a pro-wrestler in a grocery store in Illinois... I'm pointing this out because people that disagree with what I'm saying need to recognize something... they need to recognize that they're fundamentally wrong... and they need to see that it's a fucking alcoholic telling them they're retarded... because it initially encourages their suspension of disbelief... and then... when they have realized they're retarded... it hurts more... because they're confronted with the epiphany that even alcoholics were able to discern how fucking cracked out and full of shit they were.

decrypted:
2011 is the year the drum'n'bass was finally recognized for something other than late 90's two-step beats and/or Aphrodite-clone jump-up bullshit...

What's wrong with these fools... ain't they with the Future Forces shit on Renegade Hardware before motherfuckers had to dumb it down to Bad Company for all the simple-minded assholes out there??

PSYKOTROPIK: Gotta say I like the violent and grimmey dubstep but saying that it blows any other music out of the water? Jeez son! Get some tunes and some time to listen what else is out there.

As for the hate, so be it. It's easier to crush things you hate rather than competing it and comming up with true innovation.
Me 2 cents, I'm out.
I'm feeling hulk right now..
