i've been living this for a couple of years now because i don't believe i could be monogamous... well actually i don't want to be. it seems to me that it fits really nicely with the 'rave' lifestyle. :P

and especially since the last year i've been really enjoying it and learning a great deal, exploring issues of normal possessivity and jealousy vs the want and need for freedom. and well... i know there used to be polyamoury discussion groups in montreal, but i've never been to one, and i don't think they're happening anymore.

so i was wondering has anyone else tried this, or live this now?
because my 'main' boyfriend has been speaking to people in the psy about our situation, and they all seem to think it's so weird that we can live like this... in a way i enjoy being weird hehe :)

i've been wondering if most people are rather conservative or not in the way they date... so, has raving made you explore different relationship styles than the 'normal' couple?
I'm feeling authenthic right now..

I've known a few people who have (or still) done it.

I could never do it.

I believe in one love. But, I respect that others might not feel the same way.

I have friends who live this way and they are very happy with it. At first I didn't understand but after knowing them better it seemed to make sense... for them.
Not everyone is cut out for this lifestyle. I don't even want to try, I already know it's not for me. I can hardly multitask for fuck's sake ;P

i guess people should just live the way they want... if thats what makes them happy... well good for them...maybe i just dont like the fact that some people are sometime dragged into it for somebody elses reasons or beliefs.

personally, i think that you shouldnt be able to share the one you love...dont really understand it..

^^^^^ INDEED

and atually "living how you want" is so much bullshit nowadays people only think about themselves . i used to like common values when they still existed before getting phase out without me ever knowing this but only years later...

christ i can bust my ass, ego, wallet, time etc... for a girl and i barely get a call back not that im expecting one , cus giving is giving. but show me a girl who gives just emotionnal comprehension and openess and imo its a one in a hundrend million thousand something.

see i can understand we are all each stuck into each our own little prison of flesh but the general mass situation has gotten to the point if either a full out blind orgy or a social status abuse one.

plus girls have it easy , they are offered so much dick its like the figgen cosco

but thats my pov . shit i cant hardly get a girl just to go out for a coffee and small talk without having her imagin all sorts of fuck senarios and then im the sick one. see ive been spending years in front of a computer , got out in party just to see humans actually live . and i cant even peer on the social mind level . so by all mean do enjoy polygamy , friends , friendship whatever. imo and from my personnal pov its gotten to the point im stuck into a social inapt pool of antisocial people.

ense me keeping myself for myself. and maybe a special person if that ever would happen but i seriously know thats sci-fi. but if she ever thinks like i do she would have apreciated the preservation . even if damn near martyr ... and dont go think experience or mastery is lost here in anyways

anyways there are so many type of ppl in this society thats one end of the scale but there is also other that probably put ideas way before the meat . etc etc..

also as long as you guise have safe sex , but im shure that was implied - both mentally and physically

aka keep the safe word handy

I'm not shure either about the whole polyamrous trend.

I for one agree with the fact that you can't really be with one person and the whole world at the same time.

That being said, I have experienced it first hand and it's not always what it's made out to be. I think that if someone has a need to variations in their sex life, they should partner up with someone who has the same outlook, and kinda do it as a team. In my case, that's how it started out and it was all good, until my gf at the time decided that we didn't have to do this toghetter and that it was fine to do it on our own, on our own time. That really fucked it up.

So yeah, My outlook on this is simple, if you're gonna have a partner in life, perfect. I you both wanna fuck the whole world as a team, all good. But the minute you need to have sex with not-your lover to feel free, and able to enjoy your life at the fullest, that's where I draw the line. How can you call someone your lover if you'd rather have sex without them is beyond my grasp.
I'm feeling blood thirsty right now..

I'm sorry I lol'ed :P I tend to feel the same way as the majority in this thread. I won't condemn anybody for living a lifestyle that feels right and free for them. On the flip side of that however, I can't understand sharing something as intimate as the one you love. Hell, I get territorial about my shoes; I could only imagine how I'd feel lending out my boyfriend :P

Also, it seems to be vastly more popular to cheat on someone than to agree on an open relationship. At least with the open relationship, both agree to it and are equals. Cheaters are cowards who want the extra options but can't deal with their mate having the same privileges.

Personnally I have never really been in a serious relationship before, because I didn't find the right person. So I have had (and still have) plenty of time to enjoy my single life and try different stuff with several people. Some experiences were really great, and some not so great. So I tend to think that if I found someone who I was really into and who fitted with me on all aspects, that I wouldn't want to share that person with other girls for sex, nor would I be interested in having sex with a bunch of other guys who would probably end up not being half as good as my partner.
In my ideal, I shouldn't feel trapped in a relationship and feel that it holds me from living life to the fullest. If so, that means something is not right. So that's why I'd rather wait to commit until I find someone who's really worth it for me (and vice versa) and I know that when I find that person, it wont be a hassle to stay monogamous.
I'm feeling ready to rumble right now..

i don't think i ever 'fell' in love... i just love, but all the time i stay realistic. the only way i would find someone that is fitted on me in all aspects is to find myself, as another person...

and i don't want to pressure other people to do stuff they don't want to do, and i don't want to be pressured into doing stuff i'd rather not do... that's why i'm happy when we see other people, allows us to express different parts of ourselves that may be a bit less 'fitting' together.

by the way thanks for all your honest and respectful answers. you guys are awesome :)

not necessarly lol, i don't find a correlation between the two. i think that what you DO with your life make it interesting... but it's true that i also am a dreamer, just on different spheres of life.

My rational side always thought polyamory was the only logical choice.

But I've accepted a long time ago that I'm not wholly rational :)
