 Coolness: 509535 | quand meme :) les 800 et 1000 sont de grandeur 'normal' par contre. les 400 sont meilleur que les 100 et 200 d'assez loin, la seule difference entre lui pis les 800 sont la grandeur du plateau. |

Here's my take : 1-though a midi controller is USB connected and relies on your laptop, if it's a stable top and you know how to hook your own stuff up, then it should be easy and quick 2-when you use a midi controller, you never have to worry about cd's skipping 3-by using a midi controller, you are no longer relying on a clubs "crappy" or "insufficient" setup, all you need is mixer with 2 channels, and voila! 4-by using a midi, you never have to worry about whether or not wtv model of cd player will play your burned cd 5-YOU DONT WASTE ANY MORE FUCKING STUPID RETARDED STICK AROUND FOR 500 YEARS BULLSHIT PLASTIC!!!! (OMG, WIN-WIN-WIN RIGHT THUR...) 6-midi controllers allow you to layer effects and loop in real time, just incase the mixer or cdj you're using don't have any kool effects or has only shitty looping... 7-there are tons of midi controller models on the market, plenty to chose from and all you need is ONE, so for less than the price of 2 cdj's, you can buy a kickass midi controller. 8-less gear to carry incase someone needs you to play and requires you to bring a mini setup 9-you can set and program your own mapping and geek out as much as you want, cause hey, YA CANT DO THAT WITH A CDJ... 10-with a midi controller, the search or jog features give you quicker control and ease of track finding on your chosen controller program(ie traktor, serato etc) which basically means you can load and play tracks faster than you could on a cdj. 11(repeat of advantage 5) YOU DONT WASTE ANY MORE FUCKING STUPID RETARDED STICK AROUND FOR 500 YEARS BULLSHIT PLASTIC!!!! (OMG, WIN-WIN-WIN RIGHT THUR...) SO, the real question is, why are you even considering buying a cdj? Ufot-sold! |

| Coolness: 37205 | I already have a m-audio Xponent, but it's not enought precise, cdjs are lot more powerful than any midi controllers, midi can fuck really badly during a set and there some litle things that are not at the point. And i want to learn playing on machine that can allow me to play without a computer if mine have a problem at some point. |

 Coolness: 166520 | i dunno man .. technology is great, and every DJ says "no problem, i can plug this shit in real fast" then next thing you know, there's a pile of wires in chaos around the decks ... what events / clubs need is a separate dedicated set-up for lap-tops, but then that's twice the gear that needs to be bought and maintained.
the problem we have is that we're using 3 generations of media/technology ... yet, i don't think we should do away with any of them. so, we're stuck with all that. we just have to work around it until things are perfected. i like using records and CDs, and i'm used to dragging them all around with me .. plus i don't give two shits about looping / effects ... but hey, to each his own! =) |

I really, really fucking hate it when that happens.. middle of your set, the next DJ who showed up late is unplugging and re-plugging everything and trying to run a system test while you're in the middle of your set.. What I propose that should be done is to have clubs invest in that wonderful little invention called a Y splitter. Put a Y splitter on the turntables to split the feed in two outputs; one going to the Phono in on the mixer, one going to an RCA extention, then connect another RCA set to the Line In from the turntables.. That way, the turntables never get unplugged from the mixer, and you can swap out the Serato setup without being a pain in the ass to the DJ that's playing. |

oldskool vinyls FTW!!!! :D + 10 I love my vinyl - even though it's so damn heavy to carry I still love it. for the real underground oldskool, it's only available on 12" anyway - so I have no choice. ...however... I gotta get with the times.. I just got a Pioneeer CDJ-800 last week and I'm sooooooo glad! *finally* I have something to mix digital tracks and samples. until now I was really limited by only having Tech 12s. it also means I don't have to cut dubplates anymore, which is a huge relief. as nice as they are, acetates are very expensive, they wear out, and there arent even any good cutting houses left in Canada anymore. I'm gonna rip my entire collection into wavs and 320s and store em as a backup.. maybe even make 2 backups. vinyl is great but all it takes is one accident and a rare plate that took years for me to find is permanently ruined.. so it would be nice to have them on mp3 - and use those for scratching and tricks on CDJ or serato |

AND one laptop... you can get a pair of 100s for like 300$ 8. if they don't have a pair of cdjs, im not playing 9. same as 6. 10. that, I like alot every setup has advantages and disadvantages... I do encourage people to train in versatility though.. being a slave to ONE technology sucks... buddy of mine bought a cdj-400 and would never burn cds... so he had to bring his cdj to gigs to be able to play... that just sucks Some people are really good and fast at plugging and troubleshooting their gear... those people represent 20% of seratto/traktor/torq/wtv else owners... and even though i dont own any of those programs/gear, I'm part of that 20% because i have to plug in the other 80% all the time i guess midi is a cool option... depending on the gear though... some of those setups can take up quite a bit of room... in a tight booth thats already full with 2 cdjs 2 tts and a mixer... seting up can prove to be a decent source of headache for the midi dj AND for the dj before/after him worst I seen is a dude show up with ns7! wtf that thing is huge! I like the the x1 though |

I've played both vinyl and cd's for years(YEARS PEOPLE!!!) and I love vinyl, always will, and cd's, well, they are fun and handy as heck. BUT, lets face it, this world is going to hell in a handbasket, and do I feel like any, and I mean, ANY, of my tracks are worth 200+ years of pollution???? The answer is simple, NO!!!!!
Now, I'm not some tree hugging sappy-crappy hippy fuck, BUT, I do love the forest, our planet, the air we breath etc... and ALL too often, I for one, take it for granted. I feel good whenever I can do my part, and frankly, it never seems like I can do enough. I want our children and our children's children to applaud and appreciate the efforts our generation has made to maintain some force of order, some semblance of empathy and some type of forethought. If using a midi control helps me stop wasting plastic, I'M IN FOR GOOD! If I never buy another CD, blank or not, for as long as I live, I can die knowing I took a huge chunk out of my footprint. Take it or leave it, fucked up gigs, glitchs and all, the technology for us to be green at what we love(or at least greener than we were) exists, and I say "embrace it and be proud"... The craft of dj'ing is one of the most important facets of my life to date, I take it very damn seriously, that being said, any way I can take the future of our planet seriously at the same time, makes it a double super plus bonus :) Ufot-think of the oceans, our source of life. |
