I bet that's one of the promoter of Acai Berry "free, risk-free" 14-day trial offer.

[ www.ctv.ca ] Unbelievable ironic as I saw the ad on CTV... But I'm sure with a good lawyer CTV could manage to plead ignorance.

Hmm.. lots of blueberry ice cream, blueberry milkshake, blueberry yogurt, blueberry salad, blueberry pie, blueberry jam...

But I'd prefer to take a walk and snatch some blueberries from a nearby farm than eating some weird modified berries...

blueberrys are damn good.. but I like Mulberrys better cuz you can find Mulberry trees and eat as many as you want for free =)

we had an old Mulberry Tree in our backyard for years. they're the bomb. me and my friends would climb out onto the branches and eat tonnes of em... couple days later there is a whole new batch.. it's like that all summer long. you can make pies and really good jams out of em too

On dirait des mûres, mais longues! Looks freakin' delicious!
Wiki: « Unripe fruit and green parts of the plant have a white sap that is intoxicating and mildly hallucinogenic ».
That's awesome! Where can I find mulberry bushes?

haha. "intoxicating and mildly hallucinogenic" - never knew that. maybe that's a good thing

I don't think there are any Mulberry bushes - just trees. they grow wild around here.. but they aren't common. from what I just read, I guess they are only found in southern-most Ontario and the States - not in Quebec =( too bad cuz they are yummy!

Red Mulberry

Features: Red mulberry (Morus rubra) is a small, understory tree that usually reaches heights of only about 30 feet. In Ontario, it grows in moist, deciduous forest habitats such as valleys, floodplains and sand spits in the Carolinian Forest Zone. It has flaky, reddish brown bark and coarsely toothed leaves that may be either simple or lobed. The fruit is juicy and edible, and resembles a blackberry.

Status: Endangered Provincially and Nationally

Range: Red mulberry occurs from Massachusetts west through extreme southwestern Ontario to Minnesota, and south to states bordering the Gulf of Mexico. Although it is "at risk" in some range-edge states, the species is considered to be relatively secure in its main United States range. In Ontario, it is found at ten locations (only six of which have more than five trees each) in the western Lake Ontario region, in Kent and Essex counties on Lake Erie, and in the Niagara region.

bump! I just found a Mulberry tree today =)

for the record, in case you and your mom are thinking of growing em - they are much different than blackberries. the ones in the first pic below are blackberries - they are totally different. Blackberries grow on thorny bushes and are much smaller and not as sweet

so ya I just went and visited a Mulberry tree a minutes' walk from my house.. took some pics and loaded up on fresh mulberries. and the best part is, it's at the back of a dead end lot behind a store, so it's on public property! =)

and after 10 minutes of picking some ->

then I took em and rinsed em off in a sieve, to make sure no creepy crawlies fell into the bowl

et voila ->

=)

there's so many of em. I left tonnes behind, and every day there is a whole new batch that are ripe. I'm gonna grab a whole bunch this week and make some Mulberry jam =)
