Whats Moar Addictive - Meth Or Heroin

 Coolness: 93515 | I am defining addiction as how many times you do the substance until you start having cravings that are hard to ignore.
I was under the impression that heroin was more addictive because I know lots of people that have done meth via pressed pills and none are addicted. But my roommate brought up a good point that meth was probably more addictive because people who are hooked on meth will do anything for a hit, and if 40%+ of vancouvers crime can be linked to meth addiction, there must be a lot of people hooked on it. |

 Coolness: 685610 | Some of that depends on the person as well as the drug.. Some people can do meth a few times and not be addicted, just like some other people will try it once and never be able to get off it for the rest of their lives.. same with heroin..
The drugs are both extremely addictive, but the individual person is also a factor.. So is the method of intake; taking a pill with some meth in it is nowhere near the same strength and effect as smoking meth, just like doing a bit of coke and smoking a rock are two totally different ways of ingesting what boils down to the same drug. |

Seriously, I'm with Screwhead on this. I've never personally been addicted to, say, ecstasy but I know a shitload of people who just couldn't bare to live sober anymore and were popping pills like M&Ms. Addiction is very different from one person to another. And even calculating the number of metheads vs the number of heroin addicts isn't quite accurate since one important factor lies in the availability of the each drug in various neighborhoods. |

With meth ( or any stimulants in that regard ) when you come down you start feeling a bit depressed and you know that you'll stay awake for a very long time feelin like shit if you dont snort/shoot/smoke/swallow more tp avoid a crash. Some people stay awake for days on speed, always redosing untill total mental collapse occur. Also, the more you use stimulants to enhance performance or in social settings, the more it becomes associated to some situations in your life. So after a while, you must take speed just to feel '' normal '' at a party. You're not even social anymore if you're not upped snd so on and so forth. Stimulant addiction is horrible. But, if you want to discontinue the usage, you dont go through withdrawal. Heroin on the other hand grabs you by the balls. If you pass the point where your body stops producing endorphins naturally because you supply it with a better pain killer, when you stop using opiates there is a small delay before your brain starts making endorphins again. So basiclly you're sick for days. And i mean literraly. So it's hard to stop. Most chronic user will take more opiates to make the withdrawal symptoms go away. So you end up habing to injest opiates everyday to avoir feeling sick. There is also the tolerance issue, the more you indulge, the more it takes heroin to gets you high. So in the end : not enough heroin, you're sick and too much heroin, you pass out. So you end up using heroin everyday just to feel ' normal ''. With meth there is a strong psychological addiction, not unlike an addiction you can have to pot or alcohol. With heroin you have all the psychological addiction things plus a physical addiction producing intense withdrawal symptoms unlike any other drug. That said, i found heroin people to be more '' down to earth '' than speed freaks. Heroin people sleep,eat and they're not going paranoid on you. They dont speak incessantly. This is all my personal subjective opinion of course. I'v tried both drugs a couple of time. Never been addicted to any of them. The whole '' you're addicted from the first time you use it '' affair is laughable. My 2 cents. |
