so pop montreal is happening again this year(30 september - 4 october)
and the programation is out [ www.popmontreal.com ]

anyone is going?
What do you think is, for you, a Not To Miss event in what they have to offer?
Any thoughts on the festival? Good or bad!

For me im a little desapoint with the bands, since there are few that i don't wanna miss, and so much that I don't care of

but something i never miss and think it's worth to take a look, if you like art and home made stuff, is the "Puce Pop"

Puce pop is : Pop Montreal's Do-It-yourself Festival and Arts & Crafts fair!

it says it all!
I'm feeling kiss me, im shitface right now..

For the most part, I stick to my saying that "POP is just POOP with one O missing"

But, as usual, the one band on that I'd actually really like to catch (The Butthole Surfers) is playing the same night as the Kiss concert that I'm going to!
I'm feeling like a drama magnet right now..

Technically speaking "Pop" music is just an abbreviation of "Popular music"

Kiss is definitlely pop to me, in the UK some DNB was even pop (Aphrodite)

I'd even argue some dubstep is pop since it is so popular right now

To me the breaking point is when it plays on the radio, if it plays on or has played on the radio

Its pop

Lots of DnB is pop in the UK.

Have you heard that garbage?

I mean, that last one sounds like Nickleback with synths!

There will be Allan Holdsworth there! The first time he comes to montreal in more then 10yrs i think, i was so waiting for this!!!!

[ www.youtube.com ] that's him and his band. He'll do a show as a trio in mtl. I love it almost even more when he plays based as a trio. IT's more spacey.
I'm feeling at peace right now..

Green Day, as pop as they are, still made their own tunes, as opposed to most radio-pop where they just sing shit that other people write for them.

And even "real" bands like Nickleback just play one song.

That's two different songs, one playing left, one playing right.

HAHAHAHA that's a good one hahahahahahahahahah!!!! Yeah but you know, nickelback, you take one extreme case.

But the '' still made their own songs '', i dont know, it all fall in my ears, if the song is written by somebody and played by somebody else, bah, who cares if the end product is interessting.
I'm feeling at peace right now..

im not really into pop, as in "popular", music

and if you think that this festival is only about that you are damn wrong

pop montreal also offer the chance to indie bands to make their names

me im going to see Demon's Claws, again, and Nobunny, again, that are really far from what is pop music all about

it's 2 trash/garage band that you have never heard on the mainstream radio

+ pop montreal is not ONLY about music

it's a big wink on Pop Art also

even though im super desapointed by the programmation, i like that festival because, i don't really know how to express that, but it feels "like montreal", urban and with great vibe

Well they owe me royalties damnit! I came up with that when listening to a George Carlin skit in 95, where he's talking about how people say "Shoot!" around kids instead of saying "Shit!", but the truth is that "Shoot is just Shit with two O's"
