When I walked into the party at about 4:30am I knew I was entering another world. One of the great things about going to a commercial party is that you get blown away by the projections, music and lighting and RM11 didn't go light on any of these details... After a period of lots of coding for work I decided it was time for my first real trip of the year. I needed to escape reality and be shot into space for a night of reflection. I knew I was up for a trip since I've heard from many people and my previous experiances from years before that the New Mexicans were strong but I did to not realize how strong. Waves of mist reflected from the fog in the AMC to make way for rays of passageways and another reality was born. Floating around in a world of my own, but also created by the RM11 team, I was able to reflect on life itself and the things I must begin to do for the summer and to further my life goals. I probably looked like a zombie to most and I feel bad about the people who were worrying about me but everything was good... As time, energy and life itself twisted into a mush I realized once again that the world is united in many ways and I'm just one pawn in this place we call home...

All in all it was a great party, I was in trance with the music, friendly people were all around me and the vibe was rolling... Next time I would definately do it sober though and when that time comes I will definately want to be there to experiance it...

Yay! It's my turn!

I had seen the setup before the party and i was curious to see it in action, which was my only motivation to go to this party. Nuclear Ramjet also sort of attracted me to the party as well even though i did not end up hearing their set which apparantly sucked.

The setup was in fact impressive. The sound level was upped during Devilfish's set - a great move. The music was alright, i'm not a huge fan of any of the styles played last night but i did dance for a bit. I would of enjoyed dancing as much as my sped up rave partners but the overall number of people and those fuckheads that always cut in in front of me, ruined it for me... I can't imagine how there was 4000 people in there at Forza.

Anyway, i can't say i had a great night, but it was alright. I must say spending the whole day with Kevin, MJ, Kim, Nicole and her friends, Pookie and Fredo was quite the pre-party and it was also nice chilling at Al's house with a drunken Dan.

Leaving the party at 5:30 was hard. Not because i left early but because i had to say goodbye to Kim, a wonderfull person i only met recently, who is going to Africa for 8 months to volunteer in an AIDS prevention program. Bye bye Kim, see you in January ;)

yeah I went because Max Graham was replaced by Devilfish to headline this party but was quite disapointed with their set. I know they propduce some more housey shit but their set was kinda proggy and just plain boring. Though it picked up near the end of their set, Pink Feria was my set of the night and of course Nuclear Ramjet. I should've gotten there earlier to listen to Pink Feria's whole set, she rocks.....but Al still hard scotch so what the hell.........anyways, Pink Feria's the undenyable queen of hard-tech in Montreal, down with Misstress Barabara!

All in all, the party aight.

She kept the beatmatch going for more than just a few bars so it's only human in a live mix session to have a slight trainwreck here and there as long as it doesn't completly trainwreck.. I mean she's not mixing with CDs or nothing like that.

If the selection didn't do anything for you, that's another story. I love techno but that's just a question of tastes...you can't really discuss tastes.

....who were you reffering to with "i don't think either of them are very good."?
?

hehe, my feelings exactly..

if yer gonna be spinning at a party of that size, you should at least be good. and that means no doubling goin on.

i only heard about an hour or less of feria's set but i highly enjoyed it even though i don't really appreciate much hard tech... i didn't notice any of this beat doubling business. i think i loved devilfish's set for the exact reasons carlos disliked it. a lot of freaky, funky basslines shooting around all over the place, almost trancey or progressive like, it's true. nuclear ramjet's set i thought was far from bad though this stuff is certainly not for everyone. really weird, creepy sounding tech trance with strange sounds emerging only to quickly disappear, deep rumblings and chugging, eerie wafting noises passing through.. fuck, i loved it. i really liked seeing nuclear ramjet play for such a big crowd which they don't get to do very often.. given the more mainstream nature of the event, though, i think some people were caught of guard by it and didn't really know what to do with themselves on the dancefloor. i didn't stick around for creator's set......

the set up was pretty awesome. one thing you can always count on 514 for are elaborate lighting and sound setups. from the pics amalgam posted i thought maybe the circular trussels would be rigged to cranes, allowing for the entire rigs to drop and rise making for weird angles and that kind of shit. nope, but impressive none the less. tons of intelligent lighting, 8 visuals projectors (two of the screens must have been at least 30 feet across) and killer strobes than managed to brightly light up the whole entire venue.. wow.

partiers of all types at the place, maybe 2 or 3000 but hard to tell with all the mezzanines. dancing on the escaltors was fun. great views from upstairs. clean washrooms. fruit smoothies for sale. mainstream, big party feel but hey, there's nothing inherently wront with that. the truth is that even if you did pay for your ticket, $20 or $25 is a pretty bargain basement price for a party of this caliber.. very well organized and a lot of money and effort dumped into production.

was good to see a few of ya there :)
