What's your favorite TOXIC AVENGER song or remix?? TOXIC's Bio: While France continues to expand as the dominating powerhouse for electro-dance music, the growing independent dance scene keeps churning out all-night-long party DJs with The Toxic Avenger quickly rising as the premiere Frenchman taking the dance floor to a new level. Born Simon DeLacroix, the man behind the comic book and B-movie-inspired persona, The Toxic Avenger is notorious for his infectiously catchy, self-produced dance-a-thon tunes, but is equally recognized for his perfected remixes, most notably his work with Sexual Earthquake in Kobe’s “Love with Chloë Sevigny”, “Dance Among the Ruins” by Tommie Sunshine featuring the queen of raunchy, Peaches and Ladytron’s “Ghosts”. Signed to IHEARTCOMIX Records, in 2007, The Toxic Avenger was named by Rolling Stone as “One of the 5 most influential electronic artists of the year” alongside Justice, LCD Soundsystem, Digitalism and Simian Mobile Disco. The same year, he was a finalist in Diesel’s U:Music Awards. Still, music is nothing new to The Toxic Avenger. At the tender age of 12, the tiny Avenger played for various punk bands, as guitarist and vocalist, and a number of short-lived hardcore metal bands, including Comity, who continues to play to this day. Dropping the punk-hardcore genre, he fell into the electro movement after falling in love with a girl who worked at an electro radio station. Soon after catching the electro bug, he began creating songs on his low-budget computer, quickly mastering his unique sound. Though his dance-inducing electro remains his signature style, The Toxic Avenger draws from a number of distinct influences not directly related to the dance scene. Besides his strange infatuation with Kylie Minogue, whose music he has asked to remix pro bono, The Toxic Avenger pulls from a wide-ranging array of influences: emotronic bands, including Autotune; soundtracks of 70s and 80s low-budget films; and is a self-proclaimed super fan of Weezer and the Smiths. The Toxic Avenger has played along with many of the current greats including Erol Alkan, MSTRKRFT, Boys Noize, Kavinsky and Crystal Castles. He’s even played what is known as a ‘Zenith’ (a venue of over 6,000 people) in France with Vitalic and did a successful 6 week tour in the US with IHEARTCOMIX founder and fellow DJ, Franki Chan. Signed to Los Angeles-based IHEARTCOMIX Records in March 2007, The Toxic Avenger released his debut EP at the end of September 2007 and is set to release a single on French-based label, Boxon Records, on May 26 2008. The Toxic Avenger will be releasing his debut full length on IHEARTCOMIX Records in Nov of 2008, which will see his sound expand to new and unexpected horizons.

I love his stuff.
But my heart bleeds a little for Troma. They released a series of movie with The toxic Avenger as the main star. Kinda like if I was to become a deejay and call myself "Dj Michael Myers..." But he's still an awesome artist;)
I'm feeling fiendish right now.. |
