The Crapfest That Was Crystal Castles At Coda

So… I just got back from Coda or, more correctly, out side of Coda. We arrived at 11 and encountered two lines: one line for people with tickets, one line for people without tickets. We (incorrectly) assumed that as people who had bought tickets before the event, that it might be prudent to stand in the line designated for ticket holders. Out logic being that the promoters would give expedite the entry of those people who had lined their pockets via putting out money (and faith) in their hands weeks before the show. What we didn’t expect is that the promoters must think us idiots and patsies for being so accommodating. We waited in the ticket holder line for over an hour (you know what the weather is like) while the bouncers let in group after group of people without tickets. Our line remained static while the promoters decided to cash in and cramming their club over capacity while the fools who paid in advance froze.

I will never go to Coda again and will find who promoted this show and will never attend their shows again. Additionally, I will tell everyone who cares to listen to do the same. People deserve more respect than this. It has nothing to do with PLURistic bullshit and everything to do with very simple basic respect. You pay for something, you should receive that something. Promoters that default on their obligations need to be run out of business. If this is you, then a big fuck you, straight from my now frigid heart (as I warm up in my apartment). If you got burned by these clowns, I encourage you to do what I am doing and make sure these people make no more money by fucking us over.
That’s about it. If you know who promoted this show, PM me.

Aaron

Wow.. Glad I didn't go now.. Making people wait in the cold for an hour who already paid for a show is criminal
I'm feeling over 9000 right now..

As the minister of PLUR, I will make the controversial decision to approve this thread. It is in my opinion that Zeropoint felt that there was a lack of respect from promoters at coda. Thus, in essence he is arguing that there wasn't enough PLUR at Coda.

Also, let the drama begin

I have read the original post. The poster is not asking for PLUR. Nor should he. THe event at Coda was not a rave, so PLUR doesnt enter the equation. However, he is upset about the lack of respect. Fair is fair
I'm feeling disenchanted (=x_x=) right now..

Throwing events which will attract massive amounts of people should NEVER be booked at fucking Coda. I froze my ass off in the lineup last year for Uffie and decided never to go to another event there. The club is as big as a medium sized bathroom and promoters HABITUALLY over pack it.

There were over 500 people outside and the capacity is about 100. From what I could tell Crystal Castles was attracting a lot of people, booking them at Coda was a bad move unless they made it a small show with ONLY people who got tickets in advance, otherwise it's just asking for trouble.

So, who promoted this shitstorm?
I'm feeling <( ^_^ )> right now..

They sold over 1000 tickets. Just FYI. This is BEFORE the hundred or so people who they let in before the ticket holders got close to the door.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Dude seriously, coda has very small capacity. I may have exagerated, but isnt it like a 200-300 person venue? Unless they totally renovated I dont see 1000 people ever fitting in that club... not in a million years.

Yeah, I have ticket 1013 and it's supposed to be sold out.

Gamos: PLUR or no PLUR, it's all very simple: I paid for something and didn't receive it, along with probably upwards of 900 other people who won't get that something. No drama necessary, it's simply maths. If I have to picket their next show to ensure that they lose the money they stole from me, I will. If only everyone were so vindictive =D Haha, cold does funny things to people.

thats just rediculous. Id be so upset...thats rediculous. So they oversold an event, and then let those w/o a ticket get in first, thereby overselling the event even more?

This is not only a lack of respect, its a lack of basic business ethics. These promoters should be removed from the promotions busienss

Zeropoint, I agree with you. I was just correcting my post as I misread ur original post. I was under the impression this was about PLUR in the scene. Its not about PLUR at all. Its about the lack of respect and ethics shown by promoters

Scotty: I appreciate the gesture but don't bother. It's like $11 and I don't want to put you to any trouble. I am more pissed about the principle than anything. I ran into this sort of stuff a lot when I lived in Winnipeg (anyone know the name Jordan Chester?) but so far Montreal has been much better about this sort of stuff. I just want people to know about this. Buyer beware, you know. I do appreciate it though, thanks.

If you know who promoted it though, I would appreciate having a word with them...

wow...
so glad i didn't go now...
kinda predicted this sort of mayhem when i saw on facebook that 1500 ppl were attending a party at a club that has legal capacity of what i assume is less than 300.
i don't wanna point blame in the wrong direction... but wasn't it beat me up throwing this one?

I don't think Beat Me Up threw the party

I know Mary Hell was guesting and they were doing the after party

I think that Duvall guy was the promoter for this one (not sure though)
