Club Nights On Fridays And Saturdays

 Coolness: 31790 | SO yeah... I'm sort of new to Montreal and I just can't seem to find many clubs that have something for me on Fridays or Saturdays. I COULD try out every club in the city, but it's much easier just to ask here:
Basically, I want something that's walking distance from downtown (say like 45 minute walk is max) which has electronic music other than house and has a decent amount of people. I'm mostly into breaks, elecro, and dnb but I'll dance to anything really. Although, I am not a huge fan of house (different strokes and all). I really like the KO nights at petite campus, I love Neon events, and I used to go to the breaks night at Vinyl. Something similar would be awesome. Thanks in advance! Aaron |

i'm one of the guys who put on the breaks nights at vinyl, but i'm taking some time off promoting events to get some studio work done and plan some moves for the spring. if your into electro, keep your eyes peeled for voyeur and i love neon nights (usually at the s.a.t.). there is also a decent electro night at blizarts on saturdays and saphire on thursdays. for breaks check out the "hot mess" monthly at academy. thats my 2 cents. enjoy. |

| Coolness: 31790 | Thanks for the input. I might check out the blizarts thing tonight. I just wanna say thanks for hosting the night at Vinyl. It's a shame that it wasn't more busy than it was. I would think a nice intimate space, beautiful bartenders, cheap drinks, and breaks would be a winning combo =D

| Coolness: 31790 | Yeah, I hear what you're saying about the calendar... I've been using it for a while. Thing is that it's hard to gauge what is good besides how many people are going and there is definitely a bias towards certain things. There are so many clubs listed with 0 people attending and it's not as though nobody is going =D It's just hard to tell what's good. I like to go somewhere with a good amount of people, especially cause I like to dance and dancing on an empty floor feels, well, weird.
I'll be checking out Jupiter room and Blizarts next week I think. If you see me (applies to anyone of course), say hi, cause I have to meet more interesting people. The people I work with think that watching Lost is a HELL of a way to spend a Saturday night. |

I've been wondering what to do on friday and saturdays... there has been a bunch of special events or montlys but... is it just me or did all the friday and sat weeklys died all of a sudden? what do I do tonight? anyways, on thursdays theres saphies to which i havnt gotten the chance to go cuz I host passeport the same night which is more dubstep, jungle, dnb and breaks... and other mixed up stuff deppending on the guests of the week... |

 Coolness: 248400 | Yeah !i was working at vinyl too at the bar.Miss those good days :( I work at saphir on thursdays and it's pretty the bomb.Beat me up offers everyweek the best of the electro dj's in town.More often local dj's but sometimes we have guest like AC Slater etc.. Pass by ( and if you know some girls it's open bar 10 to midnight on gin vodka and rhum for them every week) as for the week end,you better watch often the calendar.Sometimes there's some chilly night DB Vaig do at Les pas sages with breakz/electro/dubstep/dnb. As for tonight, Blizzart must be the best solution.Talking about blizzart, teenwolf on tuesday there is the shit if you love Neon parties .Anyway! Goooood luck |

| Coolness: 31790 | I think I'll be checking out sahpir on Thursday, despite having to work early. Being groggy on Friday is worth good electro. I know pleanty of girls with an unhealthy pinache for gin, so that works out too. I used to go often to the Friday thing there with Plastik Patrik and sometimes the Sunday electro thing they had a while ago, which was the cat's pajamas. |

Although if you wanna hear more dubstep breaky dnb stuff Passeport on thursdays is probably your best bet (never been though, I got banned before I even got to go lol). If you're more into funky shit the Fridays at Blizzarts with my buddy Lexis is good. He also plays some dubstep and broken beat There's also a new night at Jupiter room starting up if you're into techno, electro and acid house  |

Genre stuff get's complicated and everyone has a sightly different idea about what each name means... For example, is there a difference between jungle and dnb? Lots of people will disagree on this simple distinction. I suppose when I say house, I mean the house beat (4x4) and I tend to prefer ANYTHING with a breakbeat/broken beat (syncopation makes my feet want to move). Generally, I think electro can either have a house beat (electrohouse) or a break beat (electrobreaks). The electro bit is more about the other 'instruments' and how they are used. I tend to listin to and spin is electrobreaks... Alls I know is that dirty, grindy, electro makes me want to dance. Hope that makes sense. |
