i just don't see how mccain can win,

barring some massive scandal on obama's side involving cocaine, hookers, under age children, donkey shows and embezzelment of funds destined for blind handicaped grandmothers, mccain CANNOT win, look at the math...

even if mccain getts every battle ground state (yellow on the cnn map) he still has to somehow steal back virginia from obama...

look at the money situation as well

"Obama's campaign disclosed raising $150 million in September, obliterating the old record of $66 million it had set only one month earlier. The money is fueling a late-campaign advertising barrage, much of it in traditionally Republican states, that McCain and his party have been unable to match." [ www.time.com ]

obama has just too much money, mccain never had very much, and obama has more and more every day...

black president in two weeks folks, fucking nuts...
I'm feeling surly right now..

Actually his mother is white and his father is black,

So technically its incorrect to say he's a black man,

He is in fact a "white and black" man.

Although I generally just see him as the "best" man for the job,

A lot simpler that way ;)

all the more reason it's incredible...

the fact that a man of color will hold the highest office in america, the civil rights movement has come full circle...

i think that what Colin Powel said when he gave his endorsement to obama on sunday is really key...

"I think we need a transformational figure. I think we need a president who is a generational change and that's why I'm supporting Barack Obama, not out of any lack of respect or admiration for Sen. John McCain,"

i think this is so true, an obama presidency is gonna transform america, It has very powerful psycic and symbolic dimensions to it, you have to remember he's young as well as being black, for all to long, and i think a lot of people would agree, america, has been a sort of geriocracy, (rule by the elderly, think ronald reagan), not since kennedy will someone this young be in the office of the president, it's more than time, old people have been trusted all to often to make choices that will effect a world they won't even live in...no, it's time for a change, obama as president will be like a breath of fresh air after the last 8 years.
I'm feeling surly right now..

They could always just find a young white woman who can accuses Obama of raping her when she was a young woman attending the university of chicago...

And there is always the factor where the polls are biased against Obama cuz ur going to tell the guy on the phone ur voting for him, cuz you dont want to sound racist, or you say ur undecided, and then you vote for McCain...

Bush has gone out of his way to pass legislation which awards him dictatorial powers in times of crisis. With the recent bailout and impending hyper-inflation and unemployment, the US military has stationed active units within its own borders as on-call federal response units in the event of civil unrest.

National Security Presidential Directive 51 (NSPD 51), and Homeland Security Presidential Directive 20 (HSPD 20) define a national emergency in a very broad terms. According to this legislation, once the president declares a national emergency (which does not require congressional approval, can be declared at the president's discretion), he (or she) grants themselves power over all national essential functions for continuity of Government including directing ALL federal, state, local, territorial, and tribal governments, as well as private sector organizations. This not only allows the President to bypass legislative and judicial checks and balances, (new laws can be enforced without consulting congress or the supreme court), but the president would direct the supply of all goods and services during a national emergency i.e. imposing food and water rations.

In 1879, the Posse Comitatus Act was enforced to ensure that a clear distinction was placed between the responsibilities of various levels of law enforcement. It also prohibits federal military personnel and units of the National Guard from acting in a law enforcement capacity within the United States, except where expressly authorized by the Constitution or Congress. Now that NSPD 51 and HSPD 20 have been passed, martial law can be unconstitutionally declared at any moment, and based on the recent deployment of troops in US states such as Indiana and Ohio, it doesn't look like an unlikely scenario.

Granted the elections are only about 2 weeks away, Have any of you considered the possibility that Bush doesn't want to leave the White House?

A national emergency can be declared at the president's discretion, even during an economic crisis. Whether or not Bush has the audacity to pull such a stunt (after every other scandal his administration has been involved in) remains to be seen. Based on the way recent events have been portrayed in the media, martial law is a distinct possibility. Furthermore, the importance of NAFTA and the formation of the NAU (North American Union - merging of Canada, US and Mexico into one borderless nation) is being played up by guys like Lou Dobbs of propaganda machine, CNN. Don't be suprised if at somepoint in the next 12-18 months, the Federal Reserve declares a force majeure and demonitizes the US economy, essentially making the US dollar worthless. Most of this may seem like conjecture because Vincente Fox, Harper and Bush have been holding NAFTA and NAU related discussions behind closed doors for the last few years. Recently however, Freedom of Information Act requests have resulted in various documents coming to light which detail this highly undemocratic plot. You should all read up on the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America and the proposed new currency for the US, Canada, and Mexico called the Amero.
