Coolness: 145315	this totally does not surprise, asians (in asia) are soooo racist against black people, it's shamefull i've never really understood it much either, although i don't accept it i can understand racism against blacks in the south of the US, they have a history together...but china has never had dealings with black people until recent times it just doesn't make any sense to me. someone once explained it to me like this, chinese people (and asians more broadly) have this thing where if you have dark skin it's because you work in the fields and your a peasant, if you have light skin it means you are either to wealthy to work or you work a high profile job as an administrator or diplomat (thus you spend most of your time inside), so black people in this regard are like the lowest of the low... once i was in a bar in china and two black guys came in, the girl i was with turned to me and said "i don't like those guys they just look so savage and wild", i just shook my head. the funny thing is that everybody in asia is obsessed with hip hop culture (it really is everywhere) i never miss an oppertunity to remind asians that it started with black people in new york in the early 80s...they don't like to hear that. here is a link to the story in the globe and mail [ www.theglobeandmail.com ]

Mind you, while I was in Asia, I never saw many black people at, so I couldn't really experience anything like that at all. Fun Fact: If you cross a black man in Rippongi, there is a 95% chance that he is a pimp. Advice: Never shake a black man's hand if he offers it to you in Rippongi, because he will NOT let it go until you agree to go to his strip bar to meet his ladies.

Coolness: 201340	Well there are some anime that have black people who don't look like a racist stereotype from 1910 (but there are also plenty that DO have that). I was watching black lagoon and it stars a black guy (although he is a criminal pirate, but he works with a Chinese girl, a Japanese guy, and a Russian guy).
