they claim i owe 240$ but i have my modem and returning it which is 70$... i cancelled but now they are saying the girl who i was on the phone with at videotron made a mistake and she was not allowed to cancel my account for another 2 months... so they are charging me the 2 months... I have a credit company after me and i also have videotron which sent me my last bill yesterday... i'll return the modem today which leaves about 160$.

if they told you that your account was canceled and you wouldn't recieve any further billing and they continued billing you, it's fraud.
but if you had signed a written contract with them and were trying to end it early they might have you.

i had a problem with bell a few months ago...
i spoke with a rep who offered me a faster connection for 5 bucks cheaper than what i was already paying.
i agreed to the upgrade under the sole condition that i don't loose my unlimited downloads. i kept record of the reps name and my confirmation # because the deal sounded to good to be true.

rest assured... 2 months later my bills doubled and when i called them up for a breakdown they told me i was a few gigs over my limit.
so i tripped balls, accused my rep of committing fraud against me and threatened to go to videotron.
they credited my account with 2 months free and now i have faster, cheaper and unlimited internet FOREVER!!!!!
HAHAHAHA!!!!

I worked at Videotron's customer service not too long ago, it was pretty painful.

The systems running customer accounts is so old, convoluted and problematic, I'm surprized it hasn't gone down yet. The Videotron owner (we-know-who) is such a cheap ass bastard, we were using old beige 10 years old computers. Only specific department had newer ones ( like, of course, the CREDIT department ).

Also should be noted : the outsourcers used by Videotron are amongst the most retarded human beings I've ever spoken to. Most of them have trouble finding the " Start " button in XP.

my contract was over long ago... unless according to them it automatically renews itself... i was with them for a little under 3 years...

anyways i'll return the modem tomorrow and figure it out...

It does, actually, if there's some kind of $10 rebate on your invoice. Should be libeled as "engagement rebate", but even if it's some other wording, you might have a problem.

Well the girl on the phone told me that this was not a problem cause I've been with them for over a year... But when they billed me again they said the girl made a mistake and she should not have canceled my account cause the system rejects it after. As far as I'm concerned videotron changed their contract on me by taking away my unlimited downloads. I have the phone logs on my telus bill to prove I was on the phone with support but support claims I never called those days. I guess I must have been talking to myself. But seriously there is no way I was on the phone for 45 minutes at the videotron number talking to myself. I even had a manager try to get the recordings... But now they have no record of me ever talking to the manager!!! Should have taken everyone's name but I didn't. Ow well... rant rant... I'm going to return that modem but I ain't paying the 2 months. I'm super glad videotron can't wreck my credit with the banks... I don't really care about my videotron credit.
