 Coolness: 149015 | S.S. Arkastic and Michael McDubstep present: Smooth Sailing, Wednesday November 28th @ Sing Sing (77 Des Pins E.). One night only: an evening of soft rock, AM gold, fusion, blue-eyed soul, surf, music of the tropics and yachtrock.
In association with Flatwax, Angry Loner Prods, Level 4 Productions and Pop Montreal, this special one-night event will give Montrealers a chance to discover the smoothest, yachtiest sounds of the seventies and eighties, gone but not forgotten: Steely Dan, Donald Fagen, Mike McDonald, The Doobie Brothers, Christopher Cross, Loggins and Messina or Seals & Crofts alongside the era's great fusion acts: Herbie Hancock, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Weather Report, Jeff Beck and Jan Hammer, and a whole tide of artists who were swept up in the wave and piloted the sound into great new directions. There will also be Yachstep, surf, tiki, and other watery musics. Smooth Sailing sets sail at Sing Sing, a new venue that formerly housed the Waldman's resto, famous for their seafood selections. People done talked about it a bit since the Kopshop boys revamped it and opened it earlier this month. The deck has been redone beautifully, the sound system is running on all cylinders, and the menu still retains Waldman's cherished fishy fare.
