but it's a monday so i rather waste those 5 minutes on ravewave. |

If you have the skill, and the persistence to work on it on top of your day job, eventually it might click. And quitting your day job to do it is the sweetest thing you can possibly do. But there's no way it'll come easy. It'll make you fight tooth and nail for it.
I take the filming gigs I want to take. I edit whenever I want to edit and I work out of my apartment. I get my asking rates, and there's no shortage of punters. For the first time in my life I am my own boss and it's totally awesome. I'm nowhere near rich yet, but I'm totally fulfilled. |

But working while doing uni full time hurts.. At least I'm working with stuff I am interested in in both realms.  Coolness: 42985 | Nuclear: I've got a terrific idea for a website, but its more of a one time thing. It's almost a scam but its legal. A bit like the guy who sold land on the moon. (Its not at all the same thing, but its in the general idea).
Thing is, i dont know shit when it comes to web programming. I am reluctant on sharing the idea given you could just go and do it yourself, but i figure i'll probably never have the knowledge to do it so i'll have to take that risk. |

i'm not gonna lie, i fucking hate work, i've been working for my whole life and i hardly feel like i'm getting anywhere...my first job was delivering the West Island Chronicle when i was 14... even though i hate work my current job is alright, i get paid like $50000 a year to basically play dominoes with kids (it's more complicated than that.) here are a couple of pointers that i have picked up along the way 1- as much as possible DO NOT work phone jobs, for the most part they do not provide you with anything in the way of experience, if you must work one pick one with a good company like Telus 2- as much as possible DO NOT work for an hourly rate this is a bad idea, get on contract or salarey as soon as possible 3- If you can work for the government, after working for Hydro quebec for a while i can honestly tell you there is nothing better than eating out of the government trauph, best money, least amount of work, chillest boss and it looks great on your CV 4- whatever you do try to get as much experience from whatever job you do, employers will tell you that the No 1 thing that prevents them from taking on someone they like at an interview is lack of experience, if you work for a company do as many different things as you can with your time there (floor, accounting, marketing etc) most important remember that your job should not define you, you are much bigger than the thing you do to pay the bills, keep that in mind. |
