Hey Anybody got insight?

Been trying to get my paws on a friggin permit for street performing, and it seems it`s some kind of a private fucking club, NO ONE at the city hall can give me info as to how, where, and procedure to get a permit. Fire breathing, I mean I *HAVE* seen performers before, and cops told me (a few times too many) that I need a permit.. WTF...

If anyone`s got info please post it here or PV me...

We had the same problem a few years back trying to get a city permit for small outdoor jams, after being abandoned on hold for hours at a time, numerous callbacks etc... basically the typical Brazillian runaround, we just gave up. If and when you figure this one out, it would be appreciated if you could share your findings. Godspeed Mr.Holmes!

sorry just found this you should see this

Currently, a general permit costs about $120, with a permit for performing in high-profile areas more expensive, up to around $300. The proposals suggest increasing the fee for general permits to about $400 and those for major tourist areas to about $800.

That permit isn't for the city of Montreal, it's for a street named Montreal in the city of Christchurch.

I looked up on how to get buskers permits on the Citys website, but only found a PDF file regarding changes in the laws on Public Performances, etc. from 2005, and nothing on how to actually attain a permit --mind you, I didn't look that hard.

The only thing that stood out for me, in your case, was that they mentioned prohibiting using equipment that may pose a danger to the general public, such as: Knives, Guns, Fire, so... I don't know how well this is all going to work out for you, dude.
I'm feeling cool right now..

You can get a permit to use a park for free from the city. They even supply the electricity. You have to make a small plan up and the city has the right to give you another location (bigger one) then the one you chose if they think too many people will show up since your not supposed to block traffic.
