Hi!

I'm from Fredericton and there's always been a problem with venues for raves. The police tend to be a little vigilante, let's say. We have a few places that are mostly afterhours clubs, rec centres, and dance halls used for weeding after-parties, etc.

Recently, there was a rave held in a warehouse for the first time in Fredericton, from what I know of. The ceiling was caving in and it was sooo cold in there. Of course, the DnB got everyone moving. ;) (DnB is huge out this way.) But it was old school as hell and we were lovin' every minute of it.

Anyways, this all being said, I was wondering how often warehouses are used in the rest of Canada? Especially in the bigger cities. How accessible are warehouses for these events in MTL or Ottawa? Is it passé or what?
I'm feeling holy raves batman! right now..

barely not used in montreal... very few only, though some of them are legal in so-called rebuilt warehouses.

wharehouse partys are what made the rave scene...

they are completely illegal in montreal...

they were the firt thing to get outlawed when the city started cracking down on raves.

you can no longer get a dance permit for these kinda spaces at all to my knowledge??

by "so-called rebuilt warehouses" i meant buildings that are redesigned and fitting again within the security norms.
for example, la fonderie darling kinda looks like an old warehouse (well, actually, "fonderie" means it used to be a steel manufactury of something like that)

as for abandoned warehouses, i guess you can't make it legal...

Yeah, that would be pretty gross. I was just interested to know. Everyone's always "in search of the old school" and I guess I'm glad that we have this venue. Hopefully people won't be retarded so we can keep it. It's in the industrial park, so there's going to be no problems for noise complaints. It'll just be busts to due suspected drug deals, I'm assuming.

Now what would make it better would be a nice, big, ol' HHC rave there. Not likely though, since everone hates HHC here except for me and ten other people! Haha! :D

In Ottawa itself going afterhours in a warehouse (legally) is more or less impossible.

However if we arrange a shuttle bus we can go outside of city limits and have massive parties. Few promoters do this though because it's more expensive and takes a lot of intense planning to do them safely/professionally.

The last crew to use an oldschool style venue was mine (Underdog Entertainment) out in a church - the next crew looks like it's going to be 1upped and unfamiliar ceilings/Synergy Ottawa for "Here We Go" March 30th (2 rooms, featuring Luna-C, the Blizzard Boys, DJ Mad, and a bunch of DnB, Breaks, Hardcore and Trance)

Most of the crews just stick to afterhours clubs though because they're easier to do.
I'm feeling hiveminded right now..

Warehouse parties are awesome! I went to one when it was snowing. We rocked up the roof was missing and there was grain all over the floor. We watched the sun rise in the morning while we were dancing. This was in England. theres alot of of Illegal parties like that spread out around the place.

We are coming to Canada in Oct and going to a rave, it would be awesome to go to a few underground parties like this if there is any on

super-illegal parties like that don't happen tooo often, the ones that do you've mostly got the NTK crew to thank for..

Had a couple this fall that rocked in an abandoned tunnel!
