yeah, doesn't sound like anything I'd want to see. What is with some people's obsession with watching uber-depressing perspectives of life?
I'm feeling pure evil jadedness. right now..

What is with people voluntarily depriving themselves from true information in an effort to remain ignorant that what's happening around them?

Because it's uber-depressing!!! You don't need to study it in order to know it's wrong and not to do it. Besides, this isn't an educational film, it's for entertainment purposes.
I'm feeling you know like w/e right now..

Yes yes... I find the lack of our system's interest in its members' misery (which was amplified by the system itself on top of that) quite entertaining! RIGHT ON!

Hey, I have a great idea! Let's all watch some random Disney movie instead... cause we all know they all finish on a good note.

Personally, I love depressing. Depressing love songs (Jason Molina!!), book with tragic endings, movies where people fall apart. I know thier not for everyone, but I'm a sucker for tragedy. End the movie wth a funeral instead of a wedding, and I'm a happy girl.

I'm not sure why, but I think I find some empathy and solace in heartbreak. There's somthing about that gut-wrenching tug in my abdomen that makes me feel more human, and ultimatly more compassion. Even if they are fictonal characters, I'm amazed by something that can illict that sort of emotional reaction from me.

Maybe I'm over-analizing this. Just maybe. :D

films which go about showing the shadier side of life from others people's perspective might be depressing, but we need them to see outside the box. we have it good here and even if your life sucks, keep in mind someone somewhere else has it 1000 times worse.

people need to know, this way we they A) don't take anything for granted (which we all do) and B) maybe strive to ensure that it doesn't happen in the future

actually, when me and my best friend watched it in theater(i come from nyc to mtl especialy for that!)
we felt very depress but also extremely RELIEVE. during and after the projection we cried alot .

this movie helped me for the mourning process of a teenager life that i would never be able to changes.. that's mean alot!
and if one day i meet paul arcand, i'm gonna shake his hand and say "thank you". i have respect for this documentary.

for once, a journalist told the true about this fucked up system. for once i was not feeling alone to think that minors under the DPJ law are worse threated than actual prisoners .. these places don't even respect humans rights. for once, an "adult" took the side of the "center" kids.

alienzed, i'm sure ur a good person but sometimes ur comments sound egoid and with no compassion at all and your the first person that i met who watched that movie and tought it was made for an entertainment purpose.

but your certainly not the first or the last who don't give a shit about this society problem.
I'm feeling hitched right now..

[insert judgement here]

I understood his point.

You don't really need to see a movie even if there's a lesson in it. One dosen't need to care about other people's business.

Know what? If you've been abused as a kid or such, hell maybe YOU need to see the movie...
Probably therapeutical or something...

Go do something against fucking torture all around the world and stuff ok?
See you later, stay in laval man.

hahahha flame-war!!!!
stupid shit. :)

as for me, i can't help but completely relate to what MAERY said..
as much as a movie or book or 'court metrage' *(i.e. 'jai vomi dans mes cornflakes') can make feel like shit, i can't help but feel the -need- to watch/read it over and over and over again..
something about *the feeling* you get from being exposed to tragedy... i dont know... i like feeling like shit i guess.
i disgust myself ZOMFGBBQ.
