Avi To Dvd Progs

Ok techeads, I'm looking into burning an AVI file to a format that I can play on any conventional DVD player.
I need an all-in-one program that does all the decoding and authoring and all that shit without downloading and using 5 different programs which usually ensures you get a file format that can't be imported into anything. I'm currently using Xilisoft AVI to DVD Converter but the thing won't recognize either my DVD burner or the blank DVD-R in it. Anything reliable you can suggest that any of you might be using ? Again, I can't stress an all-in-one enough. Or a GOOD " AVI to DVD for dummies " walkthrough for someone who's not knowledgable enough to be doing this. Yeah, it's my first time doing this, can you imagine ? Thank you in advance.

why don't you just get a new dvd player that plays divx?
that way you can burn 10 movies on 1 dvd and not waste your time converting shit.... anybody who doesn't have a divx player needs to upgrade thier stone age technology.

NeroVision seems fine, if it wasn't for the fact that it screws up the audio so much so that it stutters and is off-cue throughout all the movie. Annoying, to say the least.
DivX-enabled DVD player ? How much are they going for nowadays ? If it isn't under 100$, I prefer reencoding instead. At least for now, according to my funds as of lately.

well i paid 90$ for mine over a year ago and the price has dropped since then...
you should be able to find a really good one for about 70$ and a cheap one for like $50. mine is made by L.G. and i've never had a problem with it. reads just about everything... and i don't have to waste time with encoding. if you don't have one already your living in the dark ages.

Hm, not too bad a price.
Thanks Miller, I tried that one last night after a friend at work told me and again, the same shit happened : off cue and massive stuttering for the audio. In fact, I think VSO decoded the audio in a way that made people sound like chipmunks in the movie. Video is awesome though. I'm left to wonder if it isn't my Citizen DVD player. I tried playing it on my PS2 but got no audio at all despite double checking if all wires were connected. I even tried playing the DVD on my computer, stutters like mad. Could it be my sound card or just the converters who are doing a shitty job ? I don't mind using different progs now ( until I can get the money to buy a DivX enabled DVD as Murdock Rock suggested ). Any insight ?
