Been To Audio Engineering School?

 Coolness: 201180 | Hello, this is a call to anyone who has been to any audio engineering / music technology schools. I am looking for anyone who is currently attending or has completed an audio engineering / recording/ music technology program at either a private institution (such as Trebas or Recording arts Canada or any other institution or private studio) or is enrolled in a program at a public institution that contains some elements of sound recording /engineering (such as a program in the music department of Concordia, McGill, or any other public institution that involves taking some recording/engineering related classes).
I am writing a detailed article for my music/sound website [ www.geardos.net ] that involves comparisons between various schools and programs and I need feedback from individuals who have been in such programs.  Coolness: 48845 | Those programs are pure bullshit, srry. Theres too many graduates, and the industry is saturated with old coot audio engineers that wont go to their retirement.
I dont recommend spending thousands of dollars, just to end up doing the same thing you were doing before. only my 2 cents. peace. |

and tech schools are only what you make of them... you can't go into a school like that and expect someone to hand you a job when you get out. you gotta grease some wheels your self, get as much out of it as you can and then once you graduate exept the fact that you only know the BARE MINIMUM (if that) required to work in your field. If you leave thinking your smart... reality will most likely bite you in the ass. if you wanna succeed you gotta hunt down those old coots... maybe suck a little dick? or offer to help roll some cables in hopes that they would be willing let you hang around the studio and maybe learn something. |

| Coolness: 201180 | I think the independant ethic is going to change the industry a lot... Major labels are going to fail, and it will be small time studios and groups that replace them. |

 Coolness: 73040 | It's starting man... Indie bands, the rave scene... Back a little while ago... if you were making music your dream was getting signed by a major label... because producing everything yourself was ridiculous back then. No joke people used to think that these big time producers at large record labels had like secret technology like vacuum tubes from crashed submarines and shit to be able to produce what they produce. Now it's becoming common knowledge and affordable. That coupled with file sharing is the death of the music industry as we know it.
It's happening... and were gonna be there too watch them fall. One of the biggest modern punkbands of our times, nofx, even said that dinosaurs will surely die, and we will be there to watch them fall. They were making reference to recording companies. |
